This might be the cutest thing Lola has ever done. I'm working from home. I have my shoes and jacket on and leash nearby. Then I get an email for work that I really need to respond to. I keep telling Lola, please be patient, just give me a few minutes and then we will go for a walk. She is being so good, sitting next to me and patiently watching me type. After a while she starts to get impatient and pawing at the screen a little bit. I tell her, yes, Lola, almost done. Finally, she smacks her front paw down on the keyboard like a cat playing with a mouse and looks up at me like, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, I'M PUTTING MY FOOT DOWN! It was priceless. I didn't quite capture the whole thing with my iPhone but at least I got something.

Thanks Betty Ann. Similar thing happened to me the other day. We were down at Navy Pier, had been out all after noon and I really had to go to the bathroom. I asked the security if there was anywhere at all I could pee with Lola. He asked if she was a service dog, but I just couldn't bring myself to lie. Fortunately a few minutes later I found a nice lady who was standing outside one of the restaurants with her dog, waiting for her family to pee inside. She had grain-free dog treats, so in my urgency I decided that made her okay. I was super nervous the whole time, but bottom line was I really, really had to go. Of course it was totally fine - but also a learning less not to get into that kind of a situation again.
I'm starting to wonder if there isn't a lot of wink-wink that goes on with the whole service dog thing, between dog loving employees and patrons. I suppose that makes sense. If they love dogs, they can tell your dog is well-behaved and you give them plausible deniability, why should they care?
Maybe the solution is to start training Lola as a service dog, so that I can honestly in good faith tell them she is a service dog in training. Plus you never know when those skills might come in handy.
By the way, that's one very cute paw Lola has there :)
Too cute! Love your harness, Jay, and your theory. I'll have to look into one.
Wish I had one on when we were out in San Antonio the other week. Was trying to get lunch at the Riverwalk and all the patio seating where dogs are allowed, was packed. There was still out door seating, but no dogs allowed on that side. A manager told me if I had told them 'Yes' when they asked if he was a service dog we could've gotten seated. I know- unethical, but they honestly didn't care and I was hungry so I would've lied to get seated.
Ha ha, that is so funny!
What a cute smartie Lola is. She know how to get her point across. Fozzie is tall enough to walk up and lay his head on my lap, or book, or whatever is keeping me from paying attention to him. More often than not he does this right after quenching his thirst when his chin hairs are still dripping with water :)) Nothing says "I love you, now pet me!" more than wet doodle chin on ones lap =;-)
Lola is a cutie!! Those paws sure do get your attention.
Sophie does this to me too! Doodles are too smart! I keep my laptop out of her reach now, on the table, but Winston is taller and he pushes his head against my elbow to knock my my hands off the keyboard. lol.
