It's 10 AM. Sheila made it to 7AM this morning. Yeah. So far I've bundled up 3 times for potty, zoomies.

Sheila has fallen in love w/ the birds, watching them eat, barking at them (hmmm). Played in the new snow (I have a longggggggg training leash so she can zoom and boy, whoever came up w/ that term was a genius (love the romp word, too). She jumped face first into DH winter boots, I would have taken pic but I was afraid she'd suffocate. Then she played in snow, is now braver, going into tree stands, dragging out pine cones, mini stick, whatever, AS LONG AS IT REQUIRES ME BENDING DOWN. Then she jumped in the shower while running, so she was wet again. Uh oh, leash not attached, she's gone. Please tell me your guys did all this too, and some of the really funny stuff they did, ok? And how could you not laugh your head off while trying to teach them running into den with my bra is a NO NO? Naptime yet??

My first pup, Maggie, was a super calm pup. I'd like to say I wish I had videos of her, but truly, they would have been videos of her sleeping 80% of the day. She is still so calm, but around 6 months old she took a liking to socks. She will steal them every chance she gets. She doesn't chew them, just balls them up in her mouth and carries them around for hours. She will stick her nose in every shoe by the door at least once a day to make sure there are no socks in there, and then she will dig through the laundry (both clean and dirty) and pull out the socks one by one and scatter them throughout the house. She is so calm and collected in this process. Like she spends hours contemplating where she might find her next sock. And she doesn't try to keep the socks away from us either. She'll just get one, and walk around with it, stand there and look at us with it in her mouth. If we take it away from her...no big deal...she'll just bide her time until she can snatch another one. She's even tried to steal them right out of my hand when I'm putting them on, or from the clean clothes bin while I'm folding them. I can always tell when she's hit the jack-pot because I come home and there are at least 10 socks scattered throughout the apartment.

Oh yes...one Thanksgiving turkey, cell phone, remote, sponges and dish scrubber brush and T-P pulled off the roller and through the house...just to mention a few things. Gracie was really good about our shoes and other than those items, she pretty much has left all the things in the house alone. We did go through a few azalea bushes and our sprinkler drip system had lots of leaks in it for a while! She did go through the counter surfing stage so I just removed absolutely everything...especially the knife block with all the knives in it!!!! The kitchen looked like no one lived in it. This is where we kept her when she wasn't crated and now...no crate and no closed door and a doggie door to go outside. Totally trustworthy girl! And YES, at almost 3 years old we still have the Zoomies which I love!!!

Sounds to me like dear little Sheila is just being a typical Doodle doing Doodley things! Isn't it just so much fun to watch her discover and learn? Our Doodles are smart beings and have very creative and inquisitive minds. They are very smart so you will need to keep one step ahead of her. It is hard to do when you are rolling in laughter all the time!! Sounds like she is right at home with you. Lucky girl!

Ned did the counter-surfing, trash digging stuff. He loves paper, but, luckily for us, Ned was never into fabric except for pillows. He unzipped pillows and pulled out the stuffing - only zipper pillows though. The other small pillows were dragged outside through the doggie door intact. I am so glad it wasn't my underwear being dragged out back! He did love electronics (remotes, phones, chargers, computer cords) but seems to have outgrown it. Comparing Ned to other doodles I read about, he is quite calm - except for the zoomies, which we too love. My favorite is the horizontal jump onto the furniture - straight up a couple of feet and then sideways to land on the couch. How does he do this helicopter feat? Not a clue.

Wow! Sheila has been busy! I remember those crazy puppy days... we still have them occasionally.... today Agnes decided to counter-surf and attack a bag of risotto ... I came home to a living room covered in "snow" (risotto). I guess she decided it wasn't too tasty after all. Fun times! :)

Sheila is quite a pistol! It sounds like she's feeling very comfortable in her new home with her new Mommy and DD. I think you'll find she'll keep getting more and more confidence....and that means TROUBLE. Call me crazy, but I still love Guinness's zoomies. It makes me laugh just to watch him. I'm amazed she actually jumped in the shower! Guinness will sit outside with his nose pressed to the shower door, but he wants no part of actually getting in. Oh and get used to her stealing your "undies". Guinness has turned this into a "sport". He will never counter surf for food, but he does surf the bathroom counter for my underwear when I'm in the shower. Still can't figure out how he reaches. Then he runs away and hides...usually under the bed. Glad you're blogging...I love the Sheila stories.

went through it... enjoy it while it lasts because you'll miss those times when they are all grown up :)
