Hi from Sheila:
Hi all you doods. Yeah, it's spring and I have spring fever badly. I am so much friskier, and honestly, why is Mom so hyped up about my constant barking at everything that lives and breathes in the backyard? These brown fuzzy things tease me so from the top of the fence. They take alot of barking at bc I am only 9 lbs., so I have to puff myself up and really get after them. Boy I am fast, tho, and I check all four corners of my wooden fenced in yard. Zooming…

OWWIEEE Guys! I just had my second rotator cuff/labrum surgery done last Fri. It hurts so much more than the other one I had done six years ago. I'm older and dr. said joint just about worn out. He showed me all these pretty pictures of his work (he was so proud of himself) and I must have looked 1/2 dazed (yes, I did have to succomb to hydrocordone) so he said, basically you had bone removed, spurs removed and a shave and a haircut!! This is first time i've typed so forgive…

Yikes. Sheila managed to stash all this stuff on her favorite blanket while I was switching out decorations from Halloween to Thanksgiving. Just one month ago while getting out Haloween decs, all she did was follow me and watch carefully, but never touching anything. Now today, DH and I have found needlepointed ornaments, leaves and other sundry items all over the house. The scary part was I never caught her or saw her. She was the quietest, sneakiest thief I've ever seen. What is happening…

Hi guys. I have almost forgotten how to use this site in the last three weeks. We have now moved into our mostly but unfortunately not totally renovated house. This "renovation" took 1 yr. and three months, I kid you not. Meanwhile, I lived in a rented house and didn't unpack most of our belongings from our last move from NC. So I KNEW what was coming. I've moved-- ALOT. I have been married to my darling "tinkering" engineering husband for 34 yrs. so I knew I was in for it AGAIN. We've…

Oh my gosh. At the suggestion of another Dker, I decided to try a trainer for Sheila at our house. Sheila was just so excited and unfocused at puppy classes that I felt we were getting nowhere fast. Pam, the trainer, had her doing stuff I never thought a five month old puppy could do. The trainer made it so interesting for Sheila that she was sitting, downing, then would play a game, then look, then on and on. I realized how much I was the one lacking. I had all I could do just…

Sheila is growing so fast, but it seems like she is all legs, alot like when my daughters were pre-teens. And she is getting braver also when we walk at the park. My DH laughs though because is Sheila gets frightened, like when she was sniffed by loose boxers, she runs behind my DH legs, then when the "danger" has passed, she barks at the offenders. She is fine at daycare with the other little dogs, and when she comes home we call her "dead dog" because she hardly moves for the rest of the…

Always something new with a puppy. Sheila has discovered she can JUMP!!! My DH was taking a turn w/ her on HIS couch during basketball this weekend and all of a sudden my face was covered w/ fluff. Just like that, Sheila decided she had had enough of being lifted on and off couches, and mommy looked TOO RELAXED, so she ran and pounced. My DH was in stitches and so was I after Sheila and I got over the shock. Now when my daughter played volleyvall and had a really good vertical jump, they…

Sheila the pipsqueak is coming into her own. My DH takes her out at 6:30 an then she will stay in the crate until 7:15. Then it's a quick out and the day begins. She is growing fast, especially her legs!! She is still a picky eater. No stomach problems, just not all that interested in dog food. I try to mix cheese, yogurt, dry, wet Innova dog food, but some days she eats right away, some days just not interested. I usually train w/ real chicken or salmon later in AM, which she loves. But I'm…

Ok I',m not trying to be a smarty pants, but I have this God List. Things I can't wait to ask God someday. You know, things like how are we supposed to raise our children (and puppies correctly when THEY have more energy than US? I mean, how much p and p can a 4 1/2 lb. dog excrete in one day? We've gone out so many times that I am proud ?! to say that Sheila knows the difference between the word potty (#1) and poop. She doesn't tell me when she wants to do either of these things, though. I…

It's 10 AM. Sheila made it to 7AM this morning. Yeah. So far I've bundled up 3 times for potty, zoomies.
Sheila has fallen in love w/ the birds, watching them eat, barking at them (hmmm). Played in the new snow (I have a longggggggg training leash so she can zoom and boy, whoever came up w/ that term was a genius (love the romp word, too). She jumped face first into DH winter boots, I would have taken pic but I was afraid she'd suffocate. Then she played in snow, is now braver, going…

I am tired, achy, exhausted, happy!! Sheila is a tiny tot, weighing in at 41/2 lbs. at 4 mos. But she is a bundle of energy and reminds me of a hummingbird. She just whirs with excitement, her tail and her whole body wagging, hopping, chewing, p and p-ing. I keep trying to catch shots of her but she is too fast for my camera!!
Luckily Sheila loves snow. She is a true Maine girl, born and bred. That's good, since thats where we spend…

Sheila and I got home late Thurs. night from Maine. She was such a trooper and what a little doll. We had a twelve hour trip home, and I got Sheila out of her carrier whenever possible. I know you won't believe this, NO ACCIDENTS on the way home (now that we're HOME I can't make that brag-oy)! Maine was gorgeous, warmer than the Midwest. Patty Barnes' operation is something else!! I'll post a couple of pics on my page. The guest quarters was awesome, really like a Maine cabin with kitchen,…

I leave to get Sheila in Maine on early Tues. morning. I am so excited to meet Sheila and her sibling Tucker. I just pray the snow holds off long enough for me to dart to Maine and back to Illinois--although can one DART to Maine? Two planes and a 3 hr.rental car ride from Portland, ME to Dover-Foxcroft, ME. I hope it's not too hard on the little thing. I will wear plenty of layers just in case of accidents. This reminds me of when I flew with our 15 mo. old deaf child back…
