To give a little background to my life for the pat three weeks let me indulge here;

For the past three weeks I have got up at 6.30am and after playing, feeding and walking Riley I have donned my best clothes, put on my full makeup and added my high heels to give the impression that I am a smart city woman with a passion for fashion.  I have then driven to my showroom where I have entertained all the buyers who have come to the showroom where I have taken orders for the latest fashions which will shortly adorn the bodies of Irish women who love to shop.  During the day my partner has taken Riley to work with him, fed and walked him at lunchtime and been home before me in the evening.  He is an old fashioned cave man.  Unable to cook, clean up or turn on the washing machine, preferring to sit watching sport, drinking Guinness in the Club house after a round of golf or occasionally mowing the lawn or putting out the bins which he considers his sole territory.  A usually calm and laid back sort he rarely shows when he is upset.  The quiet and silent type fits perfectly.  That is until today!

And so fast forward to today..... I am sitting with one of the most important store buyers when my phone goes and I excuse myself and take the call.  It is Cave Man  " I think there is something wrong with Riley.  I took him to the park but on the way back he had the runs and then didn't want to walk so I carried him home.  He is on the couch and doesn't want to move"  Me... (in a state of quiet panic though not showing anything at all to my customer)  "can you call the Vet and see what he says"  Cave man..." I have closed the business and am staying with him.  I will call you back in an hour and update you"  At which point I excuse myself from the room call the vet and make an appointment for two hours time.  I then explain what has happened and show everyone in the room photo's of my baby who is now languishing at home.  I am sure they now think I am some mad woman.  I speed through the meeting and then run to the car.  I usually drive very carefully, keeping to the speed limit in order not to break the law or gather points on my license but today I break the limits a little and get home in 15 minutes.  Riley greets me in his usual way at the door and is bouncing around in his totally normal way.  Cave man is there saying that Riley has made a miraculous recovery and he doesn't understand what happened but assures me that he was really sleepy and couldn't be moved from the couch for two whole hours.   I phone the vet and  apologize explaining that we won't be making the visit.

I have no explanation as to what happened and my usually cool, laid back man has now gone to meet his friends in the pub to get over the "fright" he got.  Riley is playing happily at my feet having just demolished his dinner.

I'm so glad that everything turned out fine.  I'm really impressed with "Cave Man"...he's really a "mushy guy" at heart.

OMD - that was cute, scary and then funny!!!!  I'm so glad that Riley bounced right back - just like humans do I think they can get an upset tummy and then it is gone.  Cave man sounds like a keeper to me!!!!

This is the sweetest story. Thank you for sharing. My DH has learned to love our doodles too. It's amazing the way they can change.

I am glad that Riley is actually fine.  I am also glad that you found out the extent to which your partner will care for Riley.  It is very sweet.

I  just love your blogs and the visuals your words create in my mind!!  My DH is going the ultimate -- he is expressing Knox's anal glands! UGH!  Never in a million years would I have thought that would happen! (Our son is away at Duke and he is demanding a video as proof!) Take care!
