Doodle Diary, Day 10: I'm not a Doodle-Grooming Virgin anymore!

Today after church it rained, and my 3 1/2 year old played with Sable outside for a while. The result was a filthy doodle! So I took my friend Jennifer (of Grandview's) advice, and after bathing her, I trimmed the fur under her paws, to reduce the tracking in of dirt. I also trimmed around her eyes and nose, I think it is called a "beard" in doodle world. And I used my thinning shears for that look. I'll post an "after picture" later tonight. She is so cute and fluffy!

Here is the before (before trimming, but after bath): notice Bob (DH) not wanting to play....=(

I also can't wait for the 'after' pose! Starting her early in trimming is brilliant! She will think that this is just part of her routine. I would try and spend a couple of minutes several times a week just pretending to trim her. I am trying that with Charli so she will stop wiggling. I really have to get the hair above her eyes cut without making her look lopsided since she won't sit still.
I must start practicing what I preach!!

Great training her now so she gets use to the grooming end of being a doodle, can't wait to see her after shot. When Honey is on the grooming table she reminds me of a cat, all claws are out and dug into the table. Reminds me of the first night I met her.

Did she sit still for you? I always have trouble getting Guinness to sit still while I do his face. He's good with brushing, but when he sees I have the scissors he's on the move, and it's a struggle.
