Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Clifford took part in a charity dog walk on Sunday on the grounds of a local estate. This was his first outing that didn't end at the dog park or doggie day care so we weren't sure how he would do. He was a super trooper in the car; he must have read my question earlier about car manners because he sat very quietly in the middle row and waited patiently to arrive at our destination. (Sorry Clifford, the harness is still on its way!) Clifford got checked in and looked around at all the other dogs - all shapes and sizes. Mostly he ignored them, even when they barked or sniffed him but we met one other doodle and he immediately went into his play bow and wanted to engage in a full-on romp. When we went our separate ways he went back to being calm and drinking in the sights, ignoring the rest of the dogs. Apparently doodles sense the "cool-ness" in other doodles and realize the "other guys" just don't measure up for playtime.

Harlow too is attracted to other doodles. Amazing how they seem to know the difference.

Yesterday, I had Charlie/Marley foster doodle outside playing with Murphy trying to get some photos. My neighbors came outside with their dog, a usually very snooty maltipoo. She immediately went into a play bow coaxing Charlie/Marley to play with her . Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets. lol

Koda loves Goldens... don't tell him he is only 50% Golden, he will be crushed!

He seems nonchalant towards most other breeds.

Oliver met another doodle at Petsmart one day and he went right over and tried to give it his paw. We were shocked, he was trying to play with the doodle, but the other doodle just kept looking at my Oliver like he was from outer space. There were other dogs there, but Oliver just wanted to play with the doodle. Finally the were sort of playing and rolling around together. The other doods Mom, was flabagasted. I told her that doodles know each other, they are just so darn smart....

Yes, I have noticed that when Gracie sees a Doodle she automatically gravitates towards them. She is not fond of dog parks and usually stays right beside me. We don't have a lot of them anyway here so Gracie is use to neighborhood play. When we do go where there are other Doodles or a dog that looks very similar such as a PWD, she always go right up to them. Not big on Labs but then she is a Goldendoodle. She is fine with Goldens and will give them a drive by kiss! She loves Poodles!!

Jack has always been attracted to yellow labs, which is probably what his mom was.

At the dog park Jasper and Maris tend to hang around other doodles too.

Peri goes crazy when she sees a doodle. She makes moaning noises. She also does this with a golden retriever - maybe it looks like her mama?
And at daycare if the doodles are there, the staff tell me they all play together the entire time.

I have noticed that before when we run into other Doodles at PetsMart or at the park. I think they know they are of like-kind. My friend that is a sheltie breeder says she always notices that amongst shelties at dog shows. I personally think that Doodles are extrea smart and recognize eachother :-)
