A Dog's Purpose? (from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to  examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his  wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and  they were hoping for a miracle.

All this time Mom and Dad kept telling us the bed wasn't big enough so we have to sleep on the floor (well, it is mostly Dad that says that) so today we set out to prove them wrong!  As you can see, there is plenty of room for all of us....we even left a little room for Dad over there in the corner - as long as long legs Jake doesn't stretch out too much.

One advantage to adopting a doodle is we get to pick their birthdate.  We had an estimate of when Clifford was born, which made his birthday sometime in June.  Since my birthday is also in June I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than to ask Clifford to share my birthday.  While I'm more experienced, he's cuter and younger so we are sure to have a great day.  Clifford started his second birthday with a serenade from me (he may have thought of this as punishment but he tolerated…

What a rescue can accomplish…

It's hard to believe it has only been a year since we brought our big red doodle dog home.  Our lives are so much fuller, not only with Clifford but with all of the people we've met through DK and DRC and then the November addition of Clifford's brother, Little Dood.

Today is all about Clifford, which means the day will be filled with playtime and maybe a few extra treats.  And I promised I wouldn't make him wear any goofy hats or clothes since he insists he is a naked doodle…

My neighbor was walking my Grandma's bichon-poodle mix yesterday when he was attacked by 4 pit bulls that came charging out of a backyard.  My neighbor tried to get them off Benji and ended up with gashes in her leg.  She feels like the only reason they stopped attacking Benji is because they thought he was dead.  She spent the afternoon in emergency while Benji spent the afternoon in surgery.  When I saw him last night I barely recognized him with no fur, drain tubes everywhere and enough…

It started with an email...then a blog...who would have guessed a doodle romp could come together so quickly?…

Hey friends, Clifford here, and my mom just told me we are going on an adventure tomorrow! We are going to meet up with some other doodles in Ohio at a huge dog park. I'm really excited and a little nervous...I've never been swimming before and I saw pictures of them doing daredevil jumps off a dock. I hope they don't laugh at me.
