Well it's day two. Today it was Guinness who got up at 6:00...he wanted us to let his brother out of the crate so they could play. DH took them out to go potty and then they "joined me" in bed. Have you ever been licked to death by two Doodles at the same time while you're trying to sleep? Doodle tongues all over my face....very wet Doodle tongues. I figured that was my "cue" to get up.

I used to wonder and worry a little about whether I could love a new dog as much as I loved Guinness. He and I had such an amazing bond. I knew I would love any dog, but I wondered if it would be with the same intensity I felt for Guinness. Well that question has been answered. Last night I was in the kitchen cooking dinner and the boys were laying on the floor right next to me. Murphy was sound asleep and he started to have a dream...a bad dream. He started to tremble and cry in his sleep. Guinness quietly got up and went over to him and softly licked his face. The puppy woke up for a minute, looked up at Guinness, and give him a little Doodle kiss back. Then they both went back to sleep. This whole thing just melted my heart...it was one of those amazing moments in life. I felt such love for both of them...and that love was equal and perfect.

Double zoomies....I hadn't even thought about that before. Last night it happened, and it was a sight to behold. I couldn't stop laughing as these two "clowns" zoomed around the house until their tongues were hanging out and they just couldn't run any more. It was wonderful.

Yesterday we trained sit with Murphy. This is the first of a series of reasons "why two Doodles are better than one" (for my friends who are trying to convince their DH's). In less than an hour Murphy was consistently sitting on command. Why? Was it because of my fabulous training techniques? Nope, he was watching his big brother. I tried it again this morning to see if he would remember. He did. He sat patiently and waited for me to make their breakfast. He copies pretty much whatever Guinness does which I'm finding is a huge training "leg up".

Today is bath day for the "little one". He has his Vet appointment tomorrow so I want him to look (and smell) wonderful. It should be interesting. I'll try to get pictures or a video.

That's it for now. I've got to get some things done to get ready for the "birthday bash" tonight with the grand kids.

By next week, there won't be a single "only dog" on all of DK! Jane, look what you've unleashed! (No pun intended)

That is so incredibly sweet... I'm so happy it's working out so well. It's making me want a second doodle, right now! :-)

"I've never been accused of being mellow"
I, on the other hand, am known for my calm, relaxed manner.
ROFL!
Must be that heavy Saturn-ruled Capricorn thing!

I think that's a great way to look at it, Karen. Sometimes we just need to let life happen and see where it takes us. That's not always easy for me, in case you haven't noticed...I've never been accused of being mellow. But, I do recommend it for others. LOL

The thing is, Jack doesn't really like playing with other dogs very much. At the dog park or when he's around my friends' dogs (who he knows and likes) he romps around with them for a few minutes and then looks for a ball. Once he finds one, he tries to get any human to throw it for him. He totally tunes out the other dogs.
He never gets the zoomies and really doesn't even play with toys or with me, other than retrieving. And when I've had fosters here, or a friend's dog overnight, he is clearly unhappy and insecure. I'm sure over time, he would adjust, but there's also the expense factor, given what it costs to care for him. And that's going to get worse as he ages. I should have gotten another one when he was younger. But at this point, it's going to have to be the dog finding us, and not me looking for the dog. What's meant to be, will be! We'll see.

Hmm...good point, Karen. I'm going to have to break out those pinking shears this afternoon and whip up another bandana. Murphy just had his bath, and now he's really got the zoomies. Guinness is chasing him. Murph has lots of g*** in his ears...we'll have to take care of that this afternoon. I'm sure he won't like that any better than his brother does. Wow, maybe a sibling for Jack Doodle? The thing is once you start thinking about it, it's sort of all over. Maybe if I post enough cute pictures and videos of my guys that will speed up your decision. It really is wonderful....I wouldn't kid you. The problem is everyone else will get really sick of seeing my blogs.

My son came with the marriage, lol, and was eleven when I gave him his sister. Dearly loved, but never my "baby". I am thinking, though...
