Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Well 3 weeks down, and I can definitely see Zoey's getting bigger (and bolder!). The fiesty-ness continues and I am using "NO BITE" with the waterbottle, but she is still a little vampiress! LOL. She LOVES to be outside & dig in the grass (my dad is NOT a fan - she's ruining his lawn) and loves bark, leaves, twigs...basically anything that falls off a tree, bush or flower. Her new thing this week is to take food out of her dish and play with it like a hockey puck on the tile. My mom also caught her yesterday trying to soak her paws in her water bowl (oh lordy!!!).
I hate being away from her during the day and I think my mom (my doggy daycare) is already worn out. She keeps hinting that she is too old to deal with a puppy and then turns around in the same breath and says "she's cute though...the only thing that saves her neck". Anyhoo...it's been tough leaving her to go to work. I feel guilty, and also feel like certain things like potty training are suffering. Not because she doesn't get it, but I think she is going in the house just to spite us. Last night & today have been good though (knock on wood), so hopefully we can continue working through this.
The crate at night has always gone really well, till about Wednesday of this week. Over the past 2 weeks, Zoey has discovered her bark, and now she likes to bark in the wee hours of the morning (5:15 today - hello puppy...don't you know it's Saturday and your momma has had a week from hell at the office? Guess not). Feel like we're going a little backwards with this...just hoping this trend is not going to continue.
Zoey goes for her next round of shots next weekend. The following week she will be 12 weeks, which I think it old enough to start puppy Kindergarten, but I think she still has another round of shots at 16 weeks before she will have the "all clear" to be out & about in public. I need to confer with the the vet on that one. I am kinda dreading puppy K class since I don't have Zoey on a lead very often. I live in a townhouse and she is basically confined to the downstairs and the yard, which is small, so I have not found the need to keep her on it, but I should probably work on this prior to puppy training.
So the fun (barking, sleep deprivation, bite & bruise marks, etc.) continues...LOL. It's been a whirlwind, and drama at work has only compounded everything going on at home. But I would not change having Zoey here for the world. She has brought the sunshine back into my life :).
