FIRST HAIR CUT!! I like it! :) Lots of pictures to share :)

So my son Quinn doesn't like the new cut... in his words, "He looks stupid" but I really do like it. It is much shorter than I asked for but I figured that just means I can wait a long time before we go back. I love that I can see his face now and I think it is a great summer cut (even if it isn't at all summer like around here yet... darn it!)

So here are a few before pics for fun:

Pretty sure that is a fleece coat! Sammy is 6 months old and this is his first hair cut so this is the length it got to on its own in 6 months.

So now for the after pictures... he was in a running around mood so took a bit to get a picture of him holding still.

Look you can see his face and eyes!! Cool.

A little bit of wild hair on top -- it was kinda weird, the groomer left it kind of long on top around his ears... I think it looks good but I bet if I had tried it myself I would have trimmed it all there too.

So -- what do you all think? I had the best intentions of bring pictures from this website to give the groomer ideas and then I was in a hurry to get out the door and make it to the appointment on time and I left the pictures on the counter so I was sorta panicked when I got there and had to just say "trim it so he still looks like a doodle" and we talked about taking about 1/2 of his length but it is much shorter than that... but that is OK.

This blog is from last year!  So weird to suddenly get a bunch of posts about it... how did that happen?  Anyhow --my groomer still has the above pictures of him taped on the back of Sam's doggy info card at the groomers, so he gets this same haircut now every time... works out great.  Looks a bit different on him at 18 months old because his muzzle is slightly longer and ears seem to be longer and body is somewhat... shall we say, sturdier? (chunkier?)  Thanks for the new posts though... that was fun!  :)

Ooohhh, aahhh!  I really like it!  You can see his face and eyes and his coat looks like plush velvet.  I just want to rub my fingers through his hair.

Great haircut!  I would guess this is the length you got because that is about as long as the groomer could leave it and still do it with the clippers ...... otherwise it would of been a scissors cut and that takes them a long time.  She did a really good job though.  I think that given his age you will be glad that he is just a little shorter for the next few months while his coat changes.  You might actually even need to get him cut again this length before you get through that.

That's the best  first cut I've seen so far on DK (the one I like the best)  The groomer has done just as you asked and he looks adorable.  I love his face and the natural look.

I think your groomer did a great job.  If I can't figure this grooming thing out for Dublin and Chetti, I may have to get your groomers #.

Wow...you are brave but the cut looks great.....I have only had Ben's 8 inch "beard" cut....so much water sloshing when he gets a drink..like a large wet towel going thru the house...or guests laps when outside......and some around his eyes so I can see him! ....and feet....mud everywhere!  He use to have Clydesdale feet ... miss them...but not the mud ")

He looks so cute. They did a great job. When Beckett got his first haircut. it was way too short! I I was so disappointed. I love it longer. Now I try to keep it around the same length. I will do it alittle shorter in the summer. I love Sammy's length ! :) What a sweet face.

Most excellent cut. Ted had his first cut this week too (4.5months) - it is pretty much identical to Sammy's, I didn't intend to go so short either.

I just laughed and laughed every time I saw him for the first day because he looked so funny - and it was so odd to see his eyes.

And then I laughed the next day when he caught a glimpse of himself in the window and couldn't work out whether it was a reflection or another dog.

I like Sammy's and Ted's very much.

(My husband said he was going to phone the groomers and ask for the other half of our dog back)
