Well, since Fozzy it was time for Fozzy Bear to get neutered, I decided it was also time for him to cut his first haircut. I had to drop him off before work before the groomers' was technically open. So since I was going to be late for work, I made a few instructions on a piece of paper for the groomer. I was so nervous about how he would act since he is afraid of strangers. I hoped he would be ok, because I took him there 3-4 times to meet the groomer, but I could only hope for the best. BUT, I forgot to tell her to leave the face longer. All in all, I think she did a great job. I just can't quite see my Fozzy Bear when I look at his face.

So, I picked Fozzy up first, then went to pick up my youngest son. He got into the car and asked "Who's dog is this?" He truely had no idea! Then that night at the park, one of the boys said "Hey! Your dog got smaller!"

He looks great Chris! I like the face shorter to match the body fur myself so I love it =)

Awwww Fozzy Bear, you are still a cutie. I love the long shaggy look too, but Fozzy probably really does feel alot better. AND, it will grow back, quicker than you think

Oh, no! It will grow back in just six weeks??? Oh, well....I guess next time I will let them shave him. How short is too short for sun protection??

Our boy Tomas got the exact same haircut about 1 month ago.Re your question as to how long it takes to grow back... It has grown in a lot in that time-he is almost as long as when I took him. I would say it will take about six weeks to grown back in fully.

That's so funny. Fozzy looks terrific! The groomer was good, not shaving too much off - they actually need a bit of hair for summer protection. His face is adorable! And believe me, it grows back FAST! In about four weeks he'll be getting shaggy again! I too, use an old groomer at Petco and told her if she leave Petco to tell me, cuz I'm following her wherever she goes!

Thanks Linda,

I took him to Petco and I was a little worried because of all the horror stories I have read. But I have used this same groomer for years with my GR and figured if it didn't work out I would go to the groomer at my vet's office the next time.

The groomer did an excellent job. He looks great and I'll bet his feels great too.

I am glad I did it, now that it is over. It will be so much easier to give him a bath, and for drying time. With the long weekend coming up ( can you believe it is here already???) I am sure he will get some time in the lake.

I did not recognize him either but he sure is cute! He does look so much smaller, too! I cannot imagine Phoebe without her crazy mop of fur. I bet Fozzy will be very content with his new cut come summer.
