Glad we aren't the only ones......

Just joined DK yesterday and have spent most of the morning reading blogs and comments.  My husband will be so relieved to hear that we are not the only people who are crazy about our doodle.  My husband a CONFIRMED  "I live can with them or without of them....it doesn't matter to me....." shocked me a couple of weeks ago.  When we first got Kahlua he said that she was NOT allowed in bed with us.  I must admit that I was okay with that rule, especially as she tips the scale at 95 lbs.  On the night of the 4th Kahlua was very agitated by the fireworks.   When we got up to go to bed she still wasn't quite herself, so I stayed downstairs with her.  When I thought the fireworks were over I said goodnight and went upstairs.  To my shock, about 5 minutes later I hear a "sound" outside my bedroom door, it was Kahula, she had opened the fence downstairs.  I took her back, thinking that I didn't close the latch well.  Five minutes after getting back into bed, there she is again!  So I took her back downstairs, hid in the hallway to watch and see what she would do.  Then I saw it!  She used her paw to tap on the latch until it opened.  Then went upstairs.  I woke my husband up and told him what she had done.  Then for the next shocker!  He said, she doesn't like the fireworks, she can sleep here tonight!  Really?????  So he taps the bed and says come, she jumps right up on the bed, spreads out (and I mean spreads out) on my side of the bed and acutally looked at me as if saying....."Where are you going to sleep?".

Sharon, we THINK she is full grown.  Since she'll be 3 in October, its a safe bet she won't have a growth spurt.  Now sure how to explain a 95lb doodle, coming from both parents being only 65 lbs.  Go figure.

Ha ha ha! That's why we love our doodles isn't it! My husband has let the news out that Neely has meant more to him than any other dog he has ever had and Neely sleeps in our bed everynight for alittle while then hops down when he feels like it. Brian takes Neely to work as he drives around inspecting all day. He talks to him all the time and will attempt to lure Neely away from me during my time with him!! So get used to seeing your husband transform into a doodle addict!

ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  You are all so funny!  My husband told me we could not get a dog...this was about a year and a half ago.  We had lost one of our Beagles and it looked like we would lose the next before long...which we did. :0(

I was checking the internet for a mini goldendoodle and happened along Melody's little face. I brought my husband to the computer and he said, "OMG, she is cute."  The next thing I knew Melody was moving in, and nearly a year later, her brother, Morgan.  DH is so crazy about these 2 and honestly, you would have thought this was all his idea.....to hear him talk to others, etc...!  It just cracks me up...he was SOOOO adamant! He loves them.  We are both a little miserable when we leave town and they are not with us. And the bed???? Oh, yes, there is barely room for me!

I once compared our bed to a pie, with my DH getting the biggest slice, Quincy getting the next biggest slice and me getting the crumbs. The only thing that saves me is that Quincy doesn't sleep all night in the bed, he gets too warm and moves to the hardwood floor. The catch phrase at our house is " it's all about the doodle", I just ordered myself a sweatshirt that says just that. My DH didn't really want a dog but I wore him down, now Dad's boy is the light of his life.

Thanks for all the comments and laughs.  Kahlua will be three years old in October.  I get the gist that doodles love their butts being scratched.  Remember the husband that could live without a dog?  Well, when we first got Kahlua I would wake up and leave the house before my husband.  When she turned two, I didn't have to wake up until after my husband left for work.  One day we had to leave the house at the same time, we both go downstairs and I go to let Kahlua out and she looks at me, slowly lays on the ground, turns on her back and spreads.  I look at her like, what?  And what do I hear?  Oh, she likes her belly rubbed before she goes out to do her business.  Guess what?  If that isn't funny enough, she's got him to get down on the floor and rub her belly!  I thought I was wrapped!
