Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
This morning we almost had the scare of a lifetime when we heard barking coming from outside our front door! Apparently Sgt. Pepper got out of the backyard and wanted to get back into the house!
Somehow the gate had not shut properly. Just wanted to share, at this time of the year, especially when we are so busy, we should not overlook simple things, especially when it comes to the safety of our fur kids.

Very scary! Thanks for the reminder! A neighbor told us today that her Lab has learned how to open the gate to the fence and has been letting their 2 little dogs out of the backyard! We found one of the little guys at our house today! I think they need to upgrade their latch!
Sally, I am so glad Sgt. Pepper let you know he wanted back inside the house. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks for the reminder-glad all is ok with your doodle. We ALWAYS have a lock on each gate so nobody can let themselves in if the girls are out!
Once, a meter reader left our gate open. Later, when Cosmo went out, he stood in the backyard and barked at the open gate until I came out and closed it!
It was reassuring at the time, but I'm afraid that next time he'll probably go exploring!
They are supposed to be replacing our meters with the kind that transmit info back to the power company and don't have to be read by a person. When that happens, we're getting a lock!
It's so easy to miss an open gate, especially if it's located in a side yard. And with winter weather, we aren't out in the yard to notice it. Thanks for this reminder, I'm glad Sgt. P wanted to stay home and is safe!
Very true, it is a hectic time of year and things get missed. Good reminder to slow down and check the important stuff. Thanks and Happy Holidays to you all.
I'm so glad he's safe....quite a scare.
Lucky is so very true. I just now feel the need to be extra vigilant about checking to make sure the gates
are shut tight before letting them out.
What a scare but you were so lucky he came a scratchin' at the front door :)
Thank you all. His adventure served as a reminder to me to check on the gate before letting them out.
May you all have a safe, healthy and happy holiday season.
