Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I finally broke down and went through Sheba & Duke's stuffed animals, or should I say, I finally went through what was left of their stuffed animals.  These old friends have been through hours of torture.  They have suffered through beheadings, loss of limbs, gutted, de-squeaked, left in the yard exposed to the elements and dropped out of car windows.  They have also been well loved.  Sheba had her favorites and wouldn't destroy these favorite "babies" as we called them. (Duke really doesn't have any favorites to speak of.)  Sheba happily shared her favorite babies with 5 foster dogs, my son's puppy Blaze, and Shadow, the dog my ex husband and I had together.  Needless to say,  Sheba's favorite babies were destroyed by one dog or another. (Sheba and Duke are not without guilt.)  I can't tell you how many times she picked up her favorite babies only to realize that it had been de-squeaked, probably by Shadow.  No more running back and forth through the house at all hours of the day and night squeaking her favorite baby over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...well, I think you get the picture.  She no longer wanted to play with them, nor did any of the other dogs.  So, we pay homage to these old friends.

Shadow - Biggest offender of de-squeaking babies.

Blaze - Not much damage done by her.  I do remember, however, she did have a couple "accidents" while potty training and several babies spent more time than the others in the washing machine.  She had a few favorite snuggle babies.

Foster Doodle Annabelle hiding the evidence.  Notice the three of them are acting very innocent.

Duke and Sheba saying a fond farewell to these babies.  Notice the somber faces?  Right after this photo was taken these old friends made a trip to the trash can.  Good-bye old friends, we'll miss you!!!

This is hilarious!  Peri does the same thing.  Within 30 minutes, plush toys are destuffed, desqueeked and torn to shreds.  We cannot even keep them in the house.  MIL gave her one for xmas and we thought she was okay with it - treating it as her baby.  Next thing I know she swallows a big piece of it.  Luckily she threw it right up!

The photos are priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our stuffed toys are de-stuffed and trashed within 30 minutes of giving them to Darwin. So I'm impressed by these long lived ones! I love the photos by the way...

Next time D & S come to visit, they can have some of JD's stuffed toys. I have a bag full, practically untouched by doodle mouth.

That photo of the three doodles looking innocent is priceless!

OMD! when I saw the subject line my heart skipped a beat.  But then I read you blog and chuckled.  We too have said goodbye to similar old friends over the years.

Exactly Jane. My dogs have several "babies" that have multiplied since they now are in halves or thirds. But we still sometimes have fun with them. Even the ones you've posted look spectacular. Maybe I'll have to break down and get some new ones but I'm not sure I could throw out the old anyway. It takes a lot of work and slobber to break in a "baby" properly.

BTW, Blaze is a gorgeous pup even if not a doodle : )

Ilove this blog!  I must say that these "babies" that are heading for the trash can look WAY better than the "babies" at our house.  Maybe you could just send them here?  None of our squeaker babies have faces...the face is always the first to go.  Maybe they don't like to have the babies looking at them as they rip them to shreds...who knows?  Anyway, here's how our latest babies look after a couple of days with the Doods.

LOL. I recognize half these toys and most of these experiences. We have had to say goodbye to some good friends too.

I thought I was the only one with insomnia!  It is 3:15 and I have been up for the past 2 hours.  I was actually able to read through the front page of DK...first time in over a week...and I just signed up Rua for Pet Plan insurance (have been wanting to for 1 month, but couldn't choose which plan).

I think there must be something wrong with Rua...NONE of her toys have been had their head, stuffing, limbs or squeakers removed.  While out in California, though, I witnessed my sister's Jack Russell mix rescue de-stuff a toy in 3.5 seconds.

I do have to throw some of her toys in the washer every now and then!

Ann..OMD!...What are you on MY crazy schedule now?...Posting at 3:30 AM?...lol.....Every few months I too am forced to go through the toys and permanently "retire" Blake's old friends. I say Blake's old friends because Bella  has systematically murdered all of the beloved plush toys that Blake has cherished and kept in pristine condition (it's his Felix Unger inspired OCD and obsession with cleanliness ) since puppyhood.
