Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We have had Gracie for a year now, and she is a true delight - albeit a very expensive one.
We have had many visits and calls to our vet, Dr. Sue, in the last year - about everything from after-effects of eating a rotten rodent to sunblock ingestion (most of which shot into her ear when she first bit the container). Dr. Sue has a droll sense of humor, but is wise and comforting when we seem to be overly-concerned about our "expensive baby"
Imagine her surprise -and our embarrassment - when visiting for yearly shots, we casually mentioned a 3-day-old cut on her leg. Seems Gracie's great joy at scaring up and chasing herds of elk and deer also involves barbed wire. The wound, about which Gracie never complained and never bled, required two layers of stitching, the "cone of shame" and 2 weeks of recoup time It's going to take a while before we forgive ourselves for that piece of bad parenting.
Gracie had her very first haircut this week. The groomer turned our rumpled puppy into a graceful lady with long eyelashes and really long legs. We see lots of standard poodle in her.
She is in her second week of healing, so leash-walks are all she's getting. She looks longingly at her favorite run areas, but after a few pulls and huffs, she accepts her fate. We keep telling her to be patient. We keep telling ourselves that, despite her costly ways, we can't imagine life without the joy she brings.

Obviously a labradoodle, and a fantastically-colored dog. Her haircut looks great and will grow back too soon. Isn't it so interesting how the colors change? I had a labradoodle that was the same. He started out brown but ended up with this same coloring. BTW, all dogs are expensive, but you are not a bad parent.
You're a wonderful mom and Gracie knows it! Lucky girl!
Gracie is beautiful in both her sleek lady and her scruffy rocker looks.
Gracie is a beautiful dog!! Hey, you can't take it with you...LOL....so, you might as well spend it on Gracie :)
She is so beautiful. Some of our dogs are so expensive yet we don't seem to mind much. They give us so much love.
I "get" the guilt thing. Once, when my daughter was young and a competitive dancer, she complained about her foot hurting. I pretty much said, "Suck it up - it looks okay to me". Turned out she had a stress fracture. I felt awful. Bad mommy!!!
She is beautiful. We just had Quincy groomed short-same long legs! I hope she heals up quick so she can get back to her jaunts-but stay away from that nasty barbed wire!
