Tuesday 11/2...
Well, the elder DD and I drove to the Etowah Animal Shelter and sprung Gus from jail. We had a bit of fun taking the “scenic” route (read as we got lost as sh#%t even with the GPS) through rural Georgia & Alabama. We picked up Gus and drove 1.5 hours back home and straight to our vet. Gus has (soon
to be had) tapes, hook and whip worms, but is thankfully H/W negative. I am happy to say that he is a GREAT car rider and one big lovable hunk of doodle. He is also one big lovable hunk of smelly mats but he will bathed and shaved in the morning. I have attached some before pictures so everyone can see what a happy dog he is. He weighs 64 pounds and the vet concurs with Frannie & shelter that
he is around 3 years old. Gus does know his name and has come up from the backyard every time we have called him. I am not sure how he is around men yet but he is definitely a “lady’s dog”. He kept trying to figure out how to climb in my daughter’s lap on the drive home and would sneak his head between the front seats to deliver a kiss on her cheek when ever he could.

Hey, I kind of like this indoor thing...

So lets make sure I understand... I am supposed to ring the bells when I want to go outside...

What is that funny black box you have pointed at me? Can I lick it?

Wednesday 11/3...

Gus is a really happy, go lucky dog. He is one of those who has never met a stranger. He greeted my husband like DH had been a long lost friend. He was also great with our male vet. He said that Gus was wagging his tail and disbursing kisses the whole he was being treated like a pin cushion. Gus seems to love everyone, kids included. He is interested in our cats but has made no attempt to bark at them or chase them. In fact Gus slept on the floor at the end of our bed while our cat Cleo slept on the pillow between DH and I.

Speaking of sleeping in the house... I think that was a first for Gus and he did great. No accidents; in fact he woke me up twice during the night to let me know he needed to go out. I think this guy will be easy to place.

This morning Gus is at the groomer getting rid of all his smelly mats. We will be posting after pictures later today. Then it is off to Frannie's to be fostered.

Wednesday back from the groomer...

The boy cleans up nice. Gus' coat is so soft and silky. He smells soooo much better and all the mats are gone.

Look ma... no mats

I didn't know it felt so good to be clean
