OPERATION "THREE AMIGOS" - Mission Accomplished! (cross post from DRC)

It is hard to believe that it has been 5 weeks since Operation Three Amigos started with rescue of 3 young male doodles from a North Carolina shelter. Well I am happy to say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! Duke was adopted first by a lovely family in NC. Yesterday Harvey joined his forever mom and today F Scott Fitzdoodle, the last of the Three Amigos, found his forever family.

Linda (a DK member) and new doodle sib, Webster drove from Chattanooga to meet and play with Scott. Linda, her friend Peggy, and Webster met Deborah with foster Winston, and me with Scott, Harlow, Sherlock and Baxter at our local dog park. Sophie, a goldendoodle and Koko, a black standard poodle were at the park as well. We had an impromptu romp.

It has been a beautiful day, bright blue sky and in the low 70's. Everyone spent a couple hours sniffing, playing, chasing tennis balls and a short walk on the trails through out the Leita Thompson park. Everyone was tuckered out and ready for naps.

What a happy ending for the Three Amigos. Thanks again to all the volunteers that participated in the Doodle Train and to all those who have followed their stories. Without everyone's support this operation could never have happened.

Added the photos. Must have been paying so much attention to the gorgeous Fitz that I didn't look at at the tree (bush) closely. Not a magnolia but a holly.

Sorry, I'm still learning how to upload photos from my new iPhone. And it is the 'camera' that's always with me. The first time I attempted to move photos to my computer, I lost everything on my phone! Promise to work on it later tonight or in the morning. Also have a video of Web & Fitz's first playtime IN the house, out the back door, and chasing each other all through the back yard. I thought I was going to cry! Exactly what I wanted for Web.

Oh Linda, what a happy story! Fitz was totally meant to be in your family. So, when are we going to see the photos of Fitz standing by the Magnolia tree? I think I will go look at your page and see if you posted them.

Thank you, DRC! Thank you for rescuing these three amazing dogs. I've been searching for another doodle for several months. My husband and I still cannot believe we found the perfect one for our family. Webster has been such a good big brother. It's obvious that F Scott (Fitz) also needed an older brother to follow everywhere.

Since picking Fitz up on Thursday, we have had several adventures. He's always a little timid with each new experience but is very comfortable in our home and yard. Thanks to Nina, he has had no problems going to bed each night. He has his blanket and a bed on the floor right beside me.

Friday morning I took both dogs to Webster's favorite park, the Greenway. Fitz is right at home in a dog park. As I searched for another dog, that was really my first priority. I wanted one who would run & play -- hoping that Webster would again play with other dogs instead of being obsessed with the tennis ball. Fitz would run after Web as he chased the ball. When Web would lie down for a rest, Fitz would be all about searching for another friend to play with. After a little exercise in the park, our routine is to go for a walk on the beautiful Greenway trails and sometimes Web even goes for swim in the creek. I didn't risk taking them both for a walk on Friday before I got a coupler. So our next stop was Petco.

Not sure if Fitz discovered the floorboard behind the passenger seat for himself as a cozy place to curl up or if Web insisted he get his spot sitting up in the back seat. It's not like they don't have plenty of room in my wagon to move around! For now Fitz prefers that spot - he still gets nervous (sometimes) getting in/out of the car. After we got the coupler, we met a friend at a coffee shop for a late breakfast. Fitz did fantastic meeting lots of people.

Saturday - another busy day! We started off the morning with all four of us (including DH) going back to the Greenway park. This time we all went for a walk. I made some sweet photos and a video of all three boys. Our DOGood, Dog Friendly Chattanooga, group had a Barktoberfest planned for our monthly Yappy Hour. Nina had told me that Fitz was comfortable with people if they had a dog so I decided to see how he would do. Again the most difficult part was getting out of the car. Once we were around all the different dogs - all sizes, from the tiniest poodles to an Irish Wolfhound, his tail finally began to wag. By the time we got back to the car, I was able to take some gorgeous photos of him standing beside the magnolia trees.

Now he's lying at my feet - his favorite place when I'm on the computer. We are a happy family!!!
