Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Sully (Sullivan) is a handsome seven and a half year old Goldendoodle who was turned over to the San Diego Shelter to be euthanized.
The owners no longer wanted this wonderful dog. The shelter did not have room for any dogs except aggressive dogs who were to be euthanized. The (adjectives deleted) owners said, "O.K., he's aggressive, kill him!"
The staff at the San Diego Shelter realized that Sully was in no way aggressive and called Judy and I. I visited the shelter after hours on Sunday, June 29th and interacted with Sully and another staff member. I was told that Sully had spent the day in a supervisor's office and had played with little dogs and other staff members. I made an appointment to pull Sully from the shelter the next morning.
I pulled Sully and he has been wonderful in interacting with Judy and I and with our Maltese and with Holly. There is not a streak of aggressive behavior in this dog.
He had been shaved very closely but his face was ragged. I took him to my groomer to even out his face. He sat on the lap of the groomer's daughter while her mom trimmed his face. So much for an aggressive dog! We will find a furever home for Sully between Maltese Rescue California and Doodle Rescue Collective, Inc. At about 40-pounds he is a nice size Goldendoodle who is mellow and, did I mention, he is totally house trained!
As I write this, Sully is sleeping by my feet under my computer desk...

Thank you for saving Sully! He's adorable!
Glad you are there for our furry friends!!!
Thank you!!!
Thank you for doing what you do. There are no words for Sully's former owners. I wish him a wonderful life ahead.
Thank you for saving this beautiful dog...it breaks my heart that someone could do that to such a beautiful, sweet, loving creature...you are a hero Richard!
He is a beautiful doodle. Thanks for giving him a chance to find owners who will love him.
Sending very bad curses to Sully's former owners. I mean very, very bad ones.
Richard, thank you so much for pulling Sully. I have seen some California applicants on the DRC site who are looking for a smaller dood. I hope one of them matches up for him.
A solar representative came to our front door. Sully barked at him, I told Sully, "that's O.K. Sully!" and Sully immediately stopped barking and went up to greet the guy! That's a great dog!
