One year ago today as I stepped off a plane in NYC - my breeder called to say that she had delivered 3 out of 5 puppies and so far there was no male.  She said she'd call me back shortly and let me know if my "Rooney" was indeed in this litter.  I was positive that he was!  I had already passed on one cream puppy from a prior litter because I just "didn't feel it", that connection that I knew I would have the instant that I saw him.  Fast forward 3 hours and there I sat in a Chinese Restaurant with DH, tears streaming down my face - the breeder had never called back.  We had become friends and I knew that she just didn't have the heart to call and tell me that there was no Rooney.  Very late that night I did get a call - she had a puppy for me but wasn't sure that I would want him - a parti puppy but very dark, an almost blackish brown.  After looking at an emailed photo - I wasn't sure that I wanted him - was that Rooney?  She just kept telling me how special this puppy would be, really unusual, chance of a lifetime, I wasn't sure.  I told her that I couldn't promise till I could meet the puppy at the 4 week mark, so we left it at that.  Well the rest is history.  I fell in love with Rooney the day that I brought him home - yes - it took that long.  Breeder - thank you so very much for putting this boy into my heart - he means the world to me.  Thank you for believing that he was meant for me!   Happy 1st B-day Rooney - you are my JOY!!!!

My dh likes to remind me that I didn't have that instant "he's mine" feeling.  Thank goodness breeder and dh pushed me to pick him.  Even at the 4 week visit I wasn't sure.  By that time they could have sold him for a ton more money as they had breeders all over the country after him!  But they both believed he was for me.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAUTIFUL ROONEY!!!!!!!!  I have so enjoyed watching him grow through your pictures and videos and stories.  Rooney is one of the cutest doodles I have ever seen :)

Wow did Rua, with help from her mommy, ever get Rooney some really great stuff for his b-day!!!!  I just love the picture frame Dori!!!  It was so sweet of you and thanks for remembering Stuart!!!
