Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Mariner has had a rough time this past week. Last Wednesday night we gave all of our doodles their Heartguard and Frontline. The next couple of days Mariner was very lethargic. Sunday Mariner had a bad seizure. He hasn't returned to himself. It seems as though he is having more difficulty with his sight than usual and he is very clingy to Sharon. Yesterday we went to vet. Although he could not see anything obviously wrong, Mariner's blood pressure was so low that he could not draw any blood. He also does not beleive that there is any relationship between the Frontline and/or Heartguard and his seizures or low blood pressure.

Tonight we went back to the vet (this time at his other practice at an emergency clinic) so he could draw blood. He was able to draw just enough blood for the tests. Mariner's blood pressure is still very low - 60. We will not know anything until we get the results of the blood work on Friday or Saturday.

The vet observed that Mariner is not following things with his eyes. Like moving your finger up and down in front of him.

We wanted to thank everyone for their concern and comments.

This morning Mariner had another seizure. He does appeared to be a little more like himself. This seizure was not as bad as his last one. This evening he had an additional seizure. This one I saw from the beginning. He was standing and he started to have strange movements of his mouth and foaming. Then he lost control of his legs but by this time I was holding him, so I easd him onto the floor. Then his legs started moving rapidly and he lost control of his bladder. Gradually he came out of it. It seems as though when he has multiple seizures each one is a little less severe than the preceding one.

We are still waiting for the blood work results.

The more we think about it, we are more convinced that there is a relationship between his seizures and the Frontline Plus and/or the Heartgard Plus. We do know his seizures are caused by his underlying injury but that these medication may lower his seizure threshhold.
