A week ago, I took the Fozzmonster to the park to get some exercise. I take him to a local park with a hockey rink. They do not take the boards down over the summer, so it has been a perfect place for him to blow off some steam! Well, this cute little dog came by with its' owner, and Fozzy started running along the fence line after her. When he ran out of room, he simply did the logical thing, jumped the 4'+ fence. I guess this shouldn't surprise me due to the fact that at 8 weeks, he was jumping over the gate I tried to use to contain him. I am thinking of fencing the yard, but would it be worth it or do you think he could jump the 6' fence as well. There are a lot of dogs on our block that he would be tempted to go play with!

Oh, I love that picture of Gracie!!! Too bad it is not clear...I have a video in my head of her jumping and appearing in the window, then she is gone, a second later, there she is and so on! lol!

Gracie jumps too. It's the funniest thing. If she gets put out she will jump up to the kitchen window to get my attention. Ears flapping and trying to grab on. Bad quality phone ohoto, but you get the idea. But luckily she has never thought of jumping a fence (knock on wood). Get that Fozz into agility and enjoy!!

Doodles are jumpers! Murphy jumped out of the basement 6ft leap! From a complete stand still. However he hasn't gone over the fence yet, not sure if he respects his territory or just hasn't thought of it yet. He responds well to electric fences should a problem ever arise. If you have things for the dood to jump onto it may curb is appetite for jumping. Work hard on boundries with him when the fence first goes up and hopefully he'll respect the territory.

I have a sr golden and have no need to fence him. Of course, we got him BC (b4 children), and my ex -hub trained him. We had an invisible fence, but that only lasted a year due to our neighbor aerating his yard :-( But, he would play with all the dogs on the block, and always come back on command. He rarely left our yard, maybe because of the invisible fence, and never wandered. But Fozzy has a serious case of ADHD, and comes every time when on a leash, but off, forget about it! Yep, if I had the time, I would love to put him into agility, I do think he would do great. It took me, both my boys, and a very kind dog-owner (holding her cute little pup with a death grip) about 5 minutes to catch the little slippery bugger.

Years and years ago I had a yellow lab who jumped and sort of climbed over the 6 ' chain link fence!
Fozzy should do the agility!!

I have a fully fenced back yard but when Neely stands on his back feet with his paws on the fence it doesn't look like a leap (pun) that he could jump over the fence at all. He hasn't but we did put the electric ffence across the front yard as we do go out there too and if he ever did get out of the fence he wouldn't have a reason to stop if it was more exciting off the property (he has gotten off our property a couple of times) Neely, I don't think is an agility type dood though either. He doesn't do alot of physical acrobatics or stamina type activities. He is more laid back and loves short bursts of activity and likes problem solving and useing his own brain making his own fun with objects ect. So if yours is a more physical type the electric fence has been great for me even with a really cool dog walking down our sidewalk theat Neely is drooling to go play with.,

Yikes, that must have been scary. Phoebe would still be running as she still is inconsistent with recall! We got a 6' fence as I was worried about the same thing. We say she thinks she is a cat as she leaps on and off of things without issue and has since we first brought her home. There is a giant black lab behind us--trained for hunting...makes me envious as this dog is so impossibly consistent with commands--that Phoebe is dying to play with (the reason why I nixed the invisible fence). While she is never in the yard alone, she has been out with us when Zeke is running around and Phoebe has never thought of even jumping ON the fence to get to him. I wonder if she is overwhelmed as it towers over her--I am simply grateful!

Peri jumped off of a 4 foot high balcony to see a puppy a few weeks ago. She was fine....thankfully! Ran right back to the front door, smart girl.
Fozzmonster should do agility! He is so cute; I just love his new photo.
