Just realized the Doodle is a high maintenance dog. I can hardly keep up with his eye boogers in the morning. I think I have his eyes clean, and then I realize I just moved them down to his whiskers. I am glad I have my sister in law, the ex groomer to help me with nails, ears and the like. I am thinking I should offer to pay her, for all the work. I may have to rethink that. It has been so hot here the last few days, Riley does his thing and wants right back into the air conditioned house. As far as my maintenance for Riley, my wife says what else do you have to do. Might have a point.

Ned had more boogers when he was younger. He does still get them but more in one eye that the other. About every other day or so I just pick a crusty booger out of the corner of his eye and that is it. Now if he has been at a dog park or other place with lots of dust, he gets junk in his eye - just like we would.

and to save even more money you may want to take up biting fingernails! :) The Dew Claw is the hardest one to chew off.

Hmmm this seems to come up a lot. Adina helped me with Eye Boogers and it is certainly a CURE you will not have to pay for. Charles, Please read the following posts Adina sent to me when I was having issues with my doodles eye boogers. Enjoy

If you leave them in the fur, they get crusty and are harder to get out. Hate the eye boogers.

I prefer the "high maintenance" dood. We have an old lab shep cross who needs very little fuss. It means that we don't get to have all the hands on opportunity that we get with Neely (the dood) After all that fuss is play time and snuggle time and petting time. I love my old farm girl but we don't get to snuggle with her she doesn't get up like a big lap dog to get petted ect. It's like an expensive car the more you put into it the more attention you get for it, Enjoy de-boogereing!
