We usually spend Halloween at our daughters house since living in a semi-rural area, we don't get any goblins coming to our home for trick or treat.

Holly will usually get a bit excited when someone comes to our door and will often bark.  I really don't mind this because she is always in control and her actions seem to be a bit of a safety feature,  Not many intruders would come into my home with a barking 65-pound pooch challenging them.

However, it is night and day difference at our daughter's home.  Holly doesn't have the guarding instinct there and will just sit inside the house and let the little goblins come in and pet her if they want to.

I like both behaviors...

It's as if She knows it's not her house to protect. How sweet that she allows the costume clad kids to pet her. Well socialized!

Daisy is the same way, at home she barks and then settles, at work she watches from the other side of the counter but if it's someone she doesn't know she will give one loud bark (just enough to let that person know she's there) but anywhere else she sits and watches.
