Peli is a darling little Maltese who was found as a stray wandering in Apple Valley, California. We rescued him from the Apple Valley Shelter and found that he was blind since birth.  Imagine how scary it would be as a six pound dog wandering the streets as a stray.  Peli gets along quite well with the other Maltese in our home but was, at first, terribly frightnened of Holly.

Usually Holly can win over the most frightened dog in a short time.  We have had Peli as a foster for a little more than two weeks and I just saw him sleeping cuddled up with Holly.  Our big Doodle has done it again.  One more previously terrified little dog has become a member of the Holly Fan Club...

Here is a video of Peli and how well he navigates without sight...

Richard - it is so nice to wee the Peli is doing well.  I had just read that 12.5% of a dogs brain is devoted to processing smell - our brains under 1%.  Dogs use sight as a secondary sense, smell is the primary sense.  Someone will be very lucky to have Peli as their companion.

Richard, Your Holly is one amazing dog. You must be bursting with pride every time she "rescues" another dog. Thank you for helping these dogs. How sad that this poor blind dog was left to his own devices on the streets. Glad he found his way to you!

Having had Maltese terriers practically all my life and one who was blind (and who lived until she was 18) I want to say a huge thank you for doing this amazing rescue work.

I have tears in my eyes...this is so amazing, Richard.  I'm amazed at how well Peli is adapting....I get sick just thinking of this little guy wandering around lost.  Thanks so much to you and your wife...you are truly inspirational.

Holly is wonderful.  Peli looks like he is settling in and getting to know his surroundings. Richard, you and your wife are wonderful people.  Thank you for all you do.

I want a picture of the two snuggling, please.  Holly is such an exceptional dog - just like her human parents.
