We just picked up a puppy from a trailer park in the Los Angeles area who had been rescued from Gang Bangers who were torturing it. The pup needs a partial tail amputation and its face has been burned.
I am not a forgiving man! I could easily maim or kill anyone that I caught torturing a puppy like this one. And that is not just an empty burst of anger. I would enjoy doing so!
Anyway, the puppy is at our vet and the vet will amputate the tail partially. It seems like her face has healed from the previous abuse. She seems to have a loving personality dispite her abuse. She will have a loving safe home with us and we will eventually find her a home in which she will be loved and cared for in the manner any dog deserves.

The only reason that I would not inflict violence on the persons who committed this barbarous act would be the repercussions on myself, my family and our rescue program. But, as far as having any sorrow if such an act were committed, I would not feel any more sorrow than I would if I crushed a roach under my heel and woukd feel a lot more satisfaction at the act!
Anyway, we brought the baby home tonight. We have named her Lexie. She is in some pain but, the Vet gave her a shot that has relieved the pain. She is sleeping now in a pen in our bedroom. We will begin oral pain meds tomorrow and if they don't work, we will take her back to the vet for another shot. We will not let this little girl suffer anymore than she has already.
She is in a safe, loving and caring environment and we will take care of her.
We brought another rescue today. All this one needs is some coat care. We have a family coming to look at one of our rescue boys tomorrow. The economy makes for busy rescue work.
I fly up to Portland, OR on January 10th to deliver another very special angel to a family up there. My son-in-law is a salesman and accumulates many miles on Southwest Airlines which he donates to help our dogs. We only do this delivery for special needs dogs.
I flew my little blind foster Peli and his best buddy,Trixie who has been adopted with him, up to Sacramento, CA last week. Their new mom drove down from Redding, CA to pick them up and we are getting wonderful reports from her about how the two dogs are adjusting.
We are ready for a doodle rescue anytime we are needed.
Thank you, Richard, for a life of compassion and rescue.
Richard...you are such a Saint. All the dogs you bring in and love and take care of. Hopefully this one will end up with another "special angel" like little Katie.
Happy New Year to your whole crew Richard.
Oh Richard! Thanks so much for rescuing this baby. I would gladly help give these guys an "eye for an eye" and enjoy every single moment.
Richard, thank you for always opening your heart and home to furry friends in need. You not only help those you come directly in contact with, you are an inspiration to many. This little girl will feel like a princess once she gets to your house and you, your wife and Holly help her heal emotionally and physically.
May the surgery go smoothly and may she have a fast, uneventful recovery.
Does she have a name yet?
The little girl will have her surgery today, spaying and partial tail amputation... We have a wonderful 24 hour vet who is very loving and caring. The little girl has stayed at the vet who says that she has bonded to the vet's big Labrador and sleeps with her. We can't wait for Holly to meet this little girl and to nurture her like Holly is great at.
Our vet is really remarkable. She is literally at her practice 24/7 and is orthopedic certified (which is geat for our rescues with broken legs/hips). She gives us a good price on services for the rescue doga and is just about anything we would wish for in a vet. We recommend her with absolutely no reservatons...
To give her a plug: She is Dr. Jones of ER4Pets in Rancho Bernardo, CA. http://petsurg.com/ER4PETS/er4pets.html
Anyway, we will pick up the girl this afternoon and she will start 2012 and her new life.
Happy New year to all our friends out there both 4-legged and 2-legged!
I would be right behind you, my husband always says I only get my Irish up when it comes to animals and children. I have gotten myself in some pretty sticky situations when it comes to protecting them! thank you for being so wonderful!
