Okay.. I'm preparing my dishes for Thanksgiving and had laid out a stick of butter to soften - I thought!.. I got through with a couple of housekeeping chores and went back to the kitchen and the butter was gone... mmmmm... I thought I'd put a stick out to soften.. sigh.. go to the fridge to get a stick.. there's a stick missing from the box.. I DID put it out!! LUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCYYYYYYYYY... and she comes running with the greasiest beard you've ever seen!! Yes.. sigh.. she'd been counter surfing.. sigh.. I have got to train her not to do that or I need deeper counters!!! At 24 inches tall she's got the longest.. pause.. arms?? LOL okay okay legs! She's got long darn legs!!

rudie counter sniffs all the time. the first christmas i had him i had a prime rib roast sitting on the counter to put in the oven. walked out of the kitchen for a min. heard a big crash! my prime rib was in the floor!!! he didnt' eat it, because the pan made a big noise when it hit the floor & scarced him! christmas dinner was saved.

LOL LOL After we were done eating on Thursday, my DH gave Wilson some turkey Well he saw where he got it from and up the counter he went. so we put a cookie sheet on the counter because he kept looking up well he jumped up knocked over the cookie sheet with such a bang he hasn't gone up again, but we are watching.

Quinn is a premier counter surfer! We were having a dinner party, and he did the same thing. I was afraid he would be sick after literally inhaling the whole stick, so I did the hydrogen peroxide trick, a quarter of a teaspoon down the throat, and within 30 seconds, up comes whatever he has eaten. The stick of butter - with the wrapper still on it!!! You can never do this if they have ingested something that will harm them if they throw up, but it's a good thing to have on hand for any disasters like this, especially for chocolate.

Dim is good! None of my dogs has counter surfed except Ned. I didn't know it was a poodle trait. That must be it. Our other dogs have been English Springer Spaniels, labs, Dobermans ( or is that Dobermen!).

So funny. Not at the time, I bet, but it makes for a great story! I'm absolutely mystified as to why my Mazie doesn't counter-surf. All of our standard poodles counter-surfed. They were like mad geniuses, inventing new and more effective ways to strip the cupboards bare. We piled the bread on top of the toaster - Ariel pulled the toaster off the counter. We invested in a bread bin - Kira figured out how to open it. We pushed all the holiday dishes to the center of the dining room table - Fudgie yanked on the tablecloth. But not Mazie. It just doesn't occur to her. I'm sad to say it, I mean I feel really bad, but I fear my sweet girl, my darling munchkin, just may be a little dim...

I laughed - I shouldn't have but the visual is too cute. If she keeps that up she will need to start on Lipitor to get her cholestrol down!
I am lucky that Samantha has never surfed - yet. She does like to lick her lips and watch from a distance!
