I'm meeting my new puppy for the first time on Monday!

Finally! I am going to get to meet my puppy, not just see his adorable self in a video or photo sent by the breeder. And I'm nervous - like blind date nervous! He will be 4 weeks old this Tuesday and I am driving 3 hours up to the breeders home for my first 'face to muzzle". Typically I wouldn't be meeting him in person (dog?) this early but I am traveling to Europe and will be gone for a bit so I need to do this before I leave.

Need to do it for me because I'm one of those crazy people that need to "feel the bond". Is anyone else like this? I want this puppy to feel like he is meant to be mine and that he is picking me too! Am I crazy?

If all goes well the next time I post, my picture will be replaced by my puppy's photo and his name will be next to mine - wish me luck!!!!!

What an exciting time for you. I'm guessing that you'll fall totally in love with this puppy when you see him. Oh, then you'll have the long wait until he's ready to come home. New puppies are "the best". Enjoy putting together that "layette", and tell your DH he better get used to the UPS guy arriving with boxes of "dog paraphernalia", because it never ends!

Boyfriend or puppy - yes dh did pick the puppy but after about the 4th UPS shipment that arrived with yet MORE puppy stuff. He said to me "it may have been cheaper to have you get a boyfriend"! And I do admit that Rooney is going to be spoiled. We have 5 grown children and no grandchildren - so why not! LOL

I totally relate - I didn't get to meet Hunter until I met her and I felt a bond with the photo's and the video's the breeder sent us :-) It was ment to be! That is HILARIOUS about the boyfriend or the puppy!! He picked smart ;-)

I truly believe that Achilles picked my son Nolan. He had been missing my other dog, that we had put to sleep. Nolan was a mess. There were 9 puppies all moving around but this one little guy just kept himself right next to my son the whole time. When I look back at the pictures it is so glaring. So no you are not crazy at all. Good luck with your visit and your trip. Pictures as soon as possible.

Rooney needs to be MY dog too. We moved to FL from MI and I am trying to make new friends and fit in here but my husband works in NYC during the week and comes home on the weekends. It is lonely for me and I had told my dh that I was either getting a puppy or a boyfriend, he could pick - here comes the new puppy - lol!

Not crazy at all. I was EXACTLY the same. I wanted to make sure my puppy liked me. Yes my husband thought I was crazy, but I still think it was meant to be. Allie is definitely MY dog. She tolerates my husband but it is me that she follows EVERYWHERE. She is at my feet right now and that is exactly what I wanted;) Good luck on Monday. It will be perfect. Now the real wait begins..............

Not crazy to want that feeling. But at 4 weeks...pups are pretty much all about the same. But then again I'm not the kind of person who bonds to anyone immediately. My first pup Rosco (he's 4 now) seemed like he couldn't care less about me early on...not very cuddly...quite independent. It took time and experience together to help us become the good friends we are now. Training also creates a very deep bond. So what I'm trying to say is...don't worry about it.
