Sometimes, I just can't believe what I talk about on this site.  Maybe it's the doldrum of winter, but... I mean, I don't even personally KNOW you guys, but yet we talk about such things as "POOP"!  ???  Tori lately has become such a picky pooper!  LOL

It has been taking her so long to find a 'spot'... she walks, and sniffs, and turns round and round.  YES - finally!  NOPE.  Not there... she sniffs again, walks, turns round and round - NOPE again.... this goes on quite a few times.  I thought it was because there was no 'clean enough' spot for her to find because of all of the other poop-sicles that were frozen in the snow/ice - they couldn't be removed.  We had a bit of warmer weather (for about 5 hours one day-lol), so I chiseled them out and removed them.  But she continued 'her search' for the perfect spot.  Then I thought - "hmm maybe she can't smell her scent through all of the snow".. so I actually took one of the "poop-sicles" out of the can and left it there to help her. I carefully and strategically placed in in a location I thought would be "helpful" for her.   So as I stood there just waiting in the FREEZING cold, I started thinking that Tori actually does take quite a while (normally) to find a good, comfortable spot before she goes.  I don't know if it's because she knows she has a 'sucker' on the other end of her leash who will just wait as long as it takes, or what... you know - a 'lady' has to feel comfortable! All of the other dogs we had either were in a fenced yard, or were just let out to go do what had to be done... without an audience waiting in the wings for the finale!  (If this weather doesn't break soon, I may start keeping a log on how long it takes and compare it to the time it takes in the Spring!)

@ Deanna- Too funny

@ Carol... YES! I DO believe I'm losing my mind!  LOL

@ Sharon... That's how it was here today too!  Now it's a wet icy mush that has now exposed my 'hidden' poop...so now we're back to square one!  HUH!  Can't believe I'm saying this - but I'd rather have snow (plus my living room window is leaking now)

@ Joanne!  I like your DH!  LOL

Ollie has no snow for an excuse here in California. He does take his own sweet time sniffing and turning and sniffing and then adjusting his butt. Once all the stars are aligned and the butt angle is just right, there are some more minor adjustments before the deed takes place. I have no idea why it takes so much research to poop but I've give up questioning it and just go with the flow...(ahem!)

It looks like doodles aren't the only ones whose potty habits are affected by the ice and snow:

OMD, poopsicles. Hilarious! Darwin was a little bit miffed when it snowed on his favorite spot. The snow was like 3' high so there was no way he could go there. It sent him into a period of taking about 20 minutes or so to find a spot... but luckily we are through that now. He's back to his regular self now, going quickly. He will basically go anywhere... he even went on a sidewalk at our outdoor mall once. LOL

Shelly - You see what happens to perfectly normal people when mother nature "attacks" and messes up the whole system!   Snowing, icing, raining.....what else are we gonna do...but talk about poo!

OMG.  you placed poop-sicles?  i'm dying here!  LMAOROTF!!!  We are having a time of it too.  Lately all we get is ice and more ice. The areas that were originally shoveled that had snow on are now worse as the ice that fell from the sky and the tons of ice that melted off the trees has turned it into shrapnel.  He does not like it there any more.  The big back yard with several inches of snow now has maybe an inch or more of ice on top.  Sometimes when he walks on it, his poor legs slide this way and that, I'm terrified he is going to injure himself.  Sometimes he falls thru into the deep snow and he doesnt like that either.  Today I went into the yard and took the back side of the shovel along his trolley line and broke up the ice.  Ridiculous behaviour, but what can we do?  We have to help them.  Today we got more ice, then it started to melt around 2:00, but wait, now the temps are rapidly dropping and more freezing rain tonight!!!!! ARGHHH.  I seen a church sign on the internet that said "who ever is praying for snow, please stop"  LOL

Joke from DH:

Question: Do you know why your dog turns around and around when they poop?

Answer: Because one good turn deserves another.

Arghhhhh  :)   Just had to throw this in there. I think of it every time Starlit goes outside.  She takes FOREVER.  Then we have to remind her why she is outside.  Again.  And again.  And again.   " Go Out Starlit"  lol

As for those who want to read more about The OCD's of pooping here were my thoughts last Spring.

I'm so glad we're not alone... LOL

@ Deanna... if my husband knew I posted this, he would be totally convinced I have gone off the deep end!  LMBO, but anyway... here's my "Poop update" 'telegram'~  poop too frozen to remove from surrounding snow<stop>... Tori spent 10 minutes walking around this morning to find a new spot <stop>... even climbed on top of snow/ice mountain (luckily she is light enough NOT to fall through!) <stop>... obviously not comfortable to releaase here <stop>...good doodlemommy,  (that's ME) comes up with 'new plan' <stop>....shovel snow/ice from mountain and place over frozen poop-sicles <stop>.... YES! new 'clean' spots to poop! <stop>  Mission Completed!!!  Now I must go do some housecleaning and <STOP> having all this 'fun'...
