Six years ago tonight, my mom adopted me! She came to the shelter where I was staying and took me home with her, and I've been here ever since!

It took her three days to decide to adopt me. The first day she met me, she wasn't sure she could take care of a big guy like me. She went home without me, to think it over. She needed some time to be sure we would be compatible, so neither one of us would have to have another heartbreak.

That was the longest three days of my life. Mom said hers, too.

But of course, my good looks and charm won her over in the end, and she came back to get me. Kismet, whatever that means. Mom says it means we were meant to be together.

I've taught my mom a lot over the years, like how to throw a ball (she threw like a girl before I came along), how to use a lint roller, and how to pass the CGC test.

She taught me a lot, too. Mostly she taught me that the world is not as scary as I thought it was, and that people are good.

And life is good, too. Especially when you have someone who cares about you.

We've been through a lot together, and some of it has not been so much fun. But as long as we're together, things always turn out all right.

May you all be as happy together as Mom and me, on your 6th Anniversaries, and ever after.

Your friend,

Jackdoodle

Hi JD, Sophie Bear here. Firstly, I want to wish you a happy Gotcha Day! You are one fabulous dood and you have one fabulous momma. I wanted to tell you that I know exactly what you mean about throwing the ball. My mom has gotten much better, but it just never compares to when one of the guys at the park throws it. So this is my trick: whenever mom throws the ball, I get it and bring it straight to the nearest unoccupied human male. They can rarely resist my charms so I always manage to get a few good throws from him. Mom seems pretty happy about this strategy too. ;-)

Have a great day JD! and give your mom a kiss and snuggle from me and Winnie.

Thanks, everyone! JD here. I do have to admit that I was quite a catch! I am not sure Mom appreciates that as much as she should. Right now I'm sitting here neglected while she wastes valuable time doing laundry. Doesn't she know it's just going to get my hair all over it again as soon as she takes it out of the dryer?

Happpy Gotcha Day, to you JD and your Mom as well. It was a wonderful day when you got each other. I would also like to say that from your pic in the front page slide show, you are the most beautiful blonde ever.
