Right now my Shelby is spending her first night in a boarding facility. I had an out of town wedding to attend today - and it was for a colleauge... so pretty much everyone who helps me with Shelby when I can't get home during lunch or need help with something was also at the wedding. I had to board her for the night... and I am just hoping she is having an easier time than I am. I have to admit I teared up as I left... and could hear her pawing on the glass as I walked away! Shelby is a very social dog and I am sure she is just fine and had a great time playing with the other dogs. I am pleased with the facility, the accomodations, the quality of the staff and the frequency of exercise/play opportunities for the dogs. I am home now from the wedding and my house is just not the same with out my doodle here! I miss her so much. While she has only been in my life for 3 months... I can't imagine life without her. Will be excited to pick her up tomorrow! Am interested to hear how she did... at least her first boarding experience was only a 1 night stay rather than a long stretch of time. Did anyone else feel like this the first time they boarded their doodle?

Just wanted to share that Shelby did just fine being boarded... the staff said she did great and was good with the other dogs (although a bit shy initially). She was so excited to see me today when I picked her up... oh my, did that make me smile. She is exhausted and has been dosing off quite a bit until I get up and move around... then, she follows! I am so happy to have my doodle home :o)

I used to have a friend that watched my dog, but when she got busier and Sunny older, she couldn't sit as much. Sunny had a very hard time being boarded since she hadn't started at a younger age. So now, I start my puppies at a good doggie day facility once a week (start w/ fewer hrs.). Then we they have to board, they know the routine, the people, the sounds. Still hate to board Sheila, but she will go for her first boarding in mid April. Sigh!

I absolutely feel lost when my dogs are gone. I usually have a dear friend puppy sit. When she can't come stay with them I take them to a Kennel called Lovan care. They are great. The have puppy day care and the dogs can stay in large rooms instead of small kennels. I highly recommend them!

We take our Guinness to doggy daycare close to us once or twice a month. Guinness loves it there, he also plays very hard with his doggy friends!!
