When I brought my several Maltese and Holly out to go potty last night, they all started barking at the slope next to my house on which we have rosemary growing.  I could see what appeared to be twinkling of several eyes.  Holly ran towards it and just as fast retreated back into the house, completely scared.  A couple of the Maltese were still barking at the "intruders"...

Turned out that what we thought were "intruders" was a partially deflated mylar party balloon.  It was moving in the breeze and the eyes were reflections of some street lights.

Holly is absolutely terrified of those balloons and she still refuses to walk down a street in Escondido in which a store had a selection of inflated mylar balloons floating in a display in front.  The balloons are long gone but, Holly still remembers them.  Luckily, she is willing to go potty in our yard despite her meeting with the intruding balloon...

This is pretty funny = now that you know for sure there was no danger.  Silly Holly!  Our Springer is terrified of feathers - not birds, just loose feathers or perceived feathers....

This is so funny, Richard.  I can just picture the "eyes" glowing from the bushes.

This happened to us last Friday night too! How ironic.
When I returned home around 10:30 PM, I let Spud out and he tore after a large (about 2feet) item down in the yard. The poor lighting there would not let me see what it was. I called out to Spud but he lifted a leg and peed on 'it'
I was the one afraid, he walked away. Grabbing a flashlight, I found it was a imitation Hot Air Balloon. One that operates with a diner candle. Once the candle burns down, the balloon lands. I have no idea how far it traveled. Wish there was a note attached

Luca gets frightened by balloons too. I recently took in a gift for a neighbor, which had balloons attached. I put the gift on the dining room table and the balloons were moving. Oh, the growling and barking.
