Laurie (Fudge & Vern) Meets Cheryl (and Finnegan)!!

Wednesday, John and I spent the entire day in Philadelphia, PA, attending a Photography Seminar with Scott Kelby.  We had a wonderful time, but the highlight of our trip was we met up with Cheryl of Cheryl and Finnegan.  Who knew all those years ago when I joined DoodleKisses, that this online dog website, would allow me to meet some members in person?  First, the cruise and now, a seminar. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Cheryl was a little late, and we saved her a seat.  Unfortunately, not long after we picked out our seats, one large headed man fought his way down the empty row of chairs in front of us and decided that the one seat directly in our path to the screen was the one he wanted.

I was worried Cheryl might not be able to see, but then I thought to myself, “hey, she’s late….you snooze, you lose!”  Luckily, she said she could see, so we didn’t have to arm wrestle for my seat. At one point, the big headed man did turn around and give me a look when I was opening up a pack of crackers, but luckily he did not say anything about the noise or I would have hated to have Cheryl see another side to me when I yelled, “eyes forward , buddy!”

I texted Cheryl where we were seated and told her I was wearing jeans and a blue jacket and that I was stunning.  I noticed when she walked into the auditorium she looked right at me and I gave a tentative wave and she still seemed unsure of who I was based on my description.  Thankfully, she did not say, “did you mean to type sunning?”  I think F further confused her when I posted this picture

and F said, “if you think that is what Laurie looks like, you will never find her.”  I am in the process of reporting F to Adina.  Well, Cheryl and I were like two peas in a pod. Cheryl is wonderful, soft spoken, nice, kind, and a real lady and if you don’t believe that sounds like me, just the other day John said to me, “your tongue got in front of yer eyetooth, didn’t it, and you couldn’t see what you was sayin?” Instead of getting mad, I put him right in his place with this lady like response, “if brains were dynamite, you wouldn’t have enough to blow that there nose of yours.”  I could see Cheryl saying the same thing if someone said something about her sweet Finnegan or her eyetooth.

Scott Kelby had a great sense of humor since almost everything that could go wrong, did.  Cheryl leaned over at one point and said, “this makes me feel better,” and as a new person to Photography, I knew exactly what she meant.  Most of what I do is trial and error and to see a famous photographer laughing about one problem after another, made me realize that I didn’t have to go around cussing and saying where I’d like to put my camera in relationship to the posterior of anyone trying to help me.  Cheryl didn’t say those exact same words, but I could read between the lines. We didn’t have much time to talk because we were kept very busy, but I enjoyed the time we spent together and hope to do it again.

At the end of the seminar, we asked a young man to take our picture.  I wished we had asked Scott Kelby instead, because I look like Lurch with a goiter.

I wanted us all to sit down on a couch, but John said we should stand. In retrospect, I have to ask myself why I listened to John for the first time in my life, because now I have a picture that I am captioning, “which one is not like the others?” Unlike me, Cheryl looks beautiful in the picture and John is practically the spitting image of Brad Pitt. I mean, look how Cheryl pushed her way in between us. Oh well, if that seminar taught me anything, I know right where the delete button is on my camera.

P.S. I know Cheryl has a good sense of humor. I am counting on it!

P.S.S. We were "this close" to meeting F, but she decided meeting Cheryl John us was not worth the long drive. Next time, F.

Thanks, Joanna!

Sheila, I was out today. Thanks for filling Jay in on an eyetooth :) LOL I can always count on you. Once again your stupid fun comment with all of your winkies and blingees made me laugh. The burpees do look like they are working, don't they? LOL

Thanks, Traci and Camilla!

Jane, I am surprised John didn't ask Cheryl to dance up the aisle :) LOL I am going to work on something for the Photography group about the seminar. We had a nice time and I was not bored ONCE :)

F, I reported you. I am sure Adina has talked to you by now :) I need to put something together for the Photog. Group. This weekend! I left the wings in the car. The streets were not conducive to large wings :)

Jay, If you play you cards right, you might get a turn in that Intercourse Shirt :)

Donna, Thank you! I am glad you liked my Lurch with a goiter picture :) Please don't pick my brain too much. Every year there is less and less to pick :)

Jarka, LOL...maybe you could borrow the stroller for Monty and Auggie :) LOL

Karen, We had a lovely day. Thank you!

Thanks, Jane, Allyson, and Lori!

Lonnie, I agree....and why do they always sit in front of us :) LOL A year ago if you told me I would be at an all day Photography seminar I would have laughed in your face. What has happened to me?

Sandy, I need to do a blog. It is definitely worth going to, if you get the chance.

Jay, I see Sheila filled you in...LOL.

How great that you got to meet at the photography seminar, that's two brains we now have to pick. I don't know who took the pic but you were obviously the focal point because my eyes were drawn right to you. :>)))

It really is a nice pic and it's great that you could get together.

Thanks Sheila ... and yuck!  This has been a very educational week.  First I learned about intercourse t-shirts, and now eyeteeth.

Now Laurie, I am shaking in my boots about Adina coming after me. The picture looks so nice I thought Scott Kelby did take it. I laughed about the mishaps because in the Photoshop seminars I've watched something is always going wrong. Just wondering if with those wings you had to pay for 3 seats. I do hope we get a semiserious overview in the PG. So glad your competitive spirit was not called upon : ) Love'ya.

How fun...Cheryl and Scott Kelby all in the same day!  Yes, Cheryl is beautiful but so are you!  What is it with John anyway....he has that same look on his face as he did on the cruise (think waitresses).  I hope you'll put a blog in the Photography Group with some things you guys learned.  Scott K is so talented and his photos are so varied.  I'm not a fan of the car or sports images but his landscapes blow me away.  Here's his 500 page for anyone who doesn't really know his work....http://500px.com/skelby

How fun that you got to meet a DK member! And how fun that you got to go to that workshop. Love the blog!

Looks like a great time Laurie.... and Cheryl.... and John !

Hope the big headed guy didn't suck up all the photography knowledge with his overly large head !

Is the picture with the wings replacing your bikini picture ?

It looks like you lost weight in that one !

Maybe you have been doing your burpees for the cruise already ?

As always,  loved reading you crap  blog !

How great more fellow DK'ers got to meet in person!  Jealous!  Maybe someday when my kids are older I'll get to go more places and meet more people...Until then, I'll have to settle for the computer!  Sounds like you guys really hit it off, but then again, why wouldn't you?
