Apparently I left a gate open yesterday when I was mowing the lawn.  Trav has been outside  several times since then, but maybe didn't notice that one gate was open, and I didn't either.

This afternoon we played ball in the yard for a while, and I'd been back inside for some time when I heard him 'talking.'  He was using a little in-the-throat sound that usually means 'I want to go outside,' which was strange since the door was already open.

When I looked out, he was patiently sitting outside of the other gate into the yard!   He must have gone around the house and then wanted to come back inside.  Yikes!  I'm so glad he is such a homebody--he really just wants to hang out with his mom and play ball, but if a squirrel or cat had been around, or another loose dog, I don't know if things would have turned out so well.

My dad was visiting and left the gate open last year. Jack got locked out because my dad closed it without realizing Jack was not around. My dad is not a dog person so doesn't pay attention.. I heard Jack barking at the front door and scratching.. He was ticked off he got locked out of HIS house and was barking and scratching at the front door to get back in.

When he was a puppy he got away.. I let him off leash pre maturely thinking he had a good recall, He was gone and I chased him for so long till I finally got him back..

Glad he is a home body/

When I'm not handy, outside the fence or in the house, Luca loves to push his ball under the gate and then yip like a maniac fo me to get it.

Scary, indeed!  He came bounding into the yard, grabbed his ball and danced happily around.  He must have realized that there was a fence (gasp!) between him and his ball, and he can't bear to have any of his toys out of reach.  lol

I am so glad he stayed close.  Our dogs have gotten out occasionally and stayed close also.  Whew!!!

Wow, great but still scary! My DH just left ours open last week too, after he mowed. Thank goodness our son noticed before Tess and Riley did. Riley would have taken off since he is so curious, and I think Tess would have stayed with him.

I'm glad to hear Trav is so good. I had an open gate too the other day. Calla reappeared when I called but Luca tormented me for a bit.
