Little sister

Luna would like to announce that she will be a big sister in August…to a little sister of the 2-legged variety! 

My husband and I are expecting our first (human) child in August.

 

We had our anatomy ultrasound yesterday.   The little lady is officially “half-baked” at 20 weeks gestation and is a healthy 10 oz. – about the size of a skinny can of pop and measuring right on schedule.

 

It really is amazing to see all the parts one by one knowing how tiny they are.     It’s doubly fascinating for me since I teach anatomy and physiology… lumpy objects actually look like organs to me!

 

The baby was lounging upside down, head wedged in a corner and bum straight up almost the entire time the sonographer was taking measurements.  She jumped around quite a bit but always settled back down into “her” corner.  I guess that lump I’ve been feeling on my front is her little head when she’s taking a nap in her favorite spot.

I guess she takes after her big sister.

 

 The sonographer also tried to get the baby to move by poking my belly with the ultrasound wand a bit and came to the conclusion that she is already stubborn.  DH said without hesitation “She takes after her mom” ;)   He is in big trouble… with Luna he will be outnumbered 3 to 1 girls to boys (and Luna is stubborn too!)

 

Luna isn’t quite sure what to make of the changes to the future baby room (former home office).  After cleaning out the old stuff and setting up the baby swing (a gift from grandma) she photobombed my Facebook announcement picture for maximum cuteness. 

 

We are looking forward to adding a new little one to our family… now comes the fun of shopping and preparing the nursery!

Thanks everyone :)  It's been pretty smooth so far - I've been very lucky.  Other than the appetite of an ogre and a slight waddle everything is well!

How exciting ... and a little girl!  DH is in big trouble being weigh out numbered.  Look out, he might come in dragging a little fellow with 4 legs to try and even up the count a little bit!
