For any of you who were wondering how Darwin likes his new place of residence....

 

He's enjoying the company....

 

And I daresay they are enjoying him as well...

 

He's enjoying the yard, and the occupant of the yard....

 

Despite the nature of these photos, they have actually become fairly good friends. The cat will tolerate him in short doses here and there. :-) He of course LOVES the cat.

 

And he is definitely loving the neighborhood...

 

So all in all it's been going great! We've enjoyed getting away from the city a little bit, it's so much more open and quiet here and it's been nice. Darwin has loved the additional attention from family members, as well as the yard and all of the fun places to explore.

 

Actually perhaps a bit too much fun, he's getting a little naughty and distracted. How can a dood be expected to listen when there is so much to do, see smell, and investigate? We are going to have to up his training sessions for sure, and talk to some family members about enforcing the rules we've given them. They are softies and Darwin is not unaware of that fact. He knows he can give them puppy eyes and they'll hand over the bacon. Clever dood.

 

Everyone is being won over by Darwin's adorableness and charm of course, and even the most staunch dog hater here has taken to affectionately calling him "Dars". Now how to convince MY family he is awesome? :-) We'll get there. Well, after a full day of excitement Darwin is usually pretty pooped. Luckily there are lots of comfy, cool places to rest.

I'm so glad that things are working out for all of you with the move. Your pictures are WONDERFUL!!  Maybe the family will need to get their own doodle when it is time for Darwin to leave!! It looks like he has won them over!! LOL!

Amy, we have practiced, A LOT. He wasn't always as good with recall. We made sure to always have treats on hand when we practiced the command. Now he's probably 80 or 90 percent on the first "come" command but always comes by the second time.

awww that is cute.  I noticed that all of your pictures are of Darwin running off leash.  How do you get him to come back to you?  With Cubbie it is about 50/50 on whether or not he will come when called (even though I have spent a lot of time working on the "come" command with him).
