Lizzie went to the vet today for her 10 day follow up after being released, and she is doing phenomenal! The vet staff were AMAZED at how much bigger she looked and how happy she is. She is up to 13.7 pounds! (Trust me, we have worked for every ounce of that too.) She was wiggly and happy to see everyone, she actually ran into the office to say hi! I'm so used to dogs running OUT of the vet office, but they are so wonderful. The entire staff came up to see her and visit with her. Dr. Skaer (See pic below) even had to love on her. She got two vaccinations today, will get a wormer in a week, two more vaccinations in 3 weeks, then one last one a week after that. FWOOH! Tough road, but we've been a little behind in the puppy vaccination due to her illness. Dr. Skaer still believes that she DID have Parvo, so that's what were sticking with as a diagnosis. He said that since she had 3 parvo vaccinations prior to her illness, perhaps that is why she didn't get as sick as most puppies. That, and we caught it fast. Nonetheless, she's alive and thriving. And he gave her the "go-ahead" to go to puppy classes! Well, he said I had to wait a few more weeks, but that's okay.
And then we went on a playdate with my friend's schnoodle and miniature schnauzer! Lizzie is WORN out! She had a blast, and it's nice to get her out of the house. These dogs are both adults and vaccinated, so it was okay that Lizzie was around them. She still can't be around any puppies or un-vaccinated dogs for a while, since the parvo is still contagious. I suspect that she will sleep soundly tonight after such a long day!
So that was our adventure for the day! Loves and hugs to everyone!
