Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

First, I have graduated to a "socialite!" WOO!

Second, I think I finally found a food that Lizzie likes, eats, and poops! It is Blue Buffalo chicken and rice. I'm still supplementing with canned food from the vet, but she has been eating the blue buffalo for a couple of days and doing well. She also stopped eating her own poop! Don't know if it has any relation to the food, but it's good anyway. She still, however, likes to roll in it. I forsee our first bath quickly approaching....(perhaps this weekend). I'm hoping this food will work for a while. The lab-rescue organization my aunt works with recommends it for when they get rescues with GI problems, so I gave it a try. She's had one more small episode of vomitting, but I'm starting to think she vomits when she's hungry? Mabye like a GERD? Do dogs get that? Stools are still soft, but getting firmer. I know you all wanted to read about her poop. hehe! Her follow-up vet appt is Monday, so I will let you all know what Dr. Skaer says. I think he'll be pleased.

I bought Lizzie a new harness, pink of course. I didn't like feeling that she was pulling her neck when she pulled against the leash. Since I keep her on the leash in the house and she always wants to chase the kitties, it seems to work better. Ss soon as I get some pictures, I will post them....She looks pretty spiffy!

Overall though, Lizzie is perfect. She feels good, is up to 12.8 pounds (YAY!) and I feel like I can watch her grow. She will be 15 weeks on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I've worked the last four nights in a row, so she has some pent-up energy. We will have to run that off in the back yard this weekend. Oh, and in puppy fashion, she had her BRAND new leash on yesterday (with suede accents) and was running around the back yard; (The dbf let her out with it on) and drug it through a FRESH pile of soft poo. So now it has Suede and stool accents. It smells bad, haven't quite figured out how i'm going to clean it yet. But I had to laugh.

I'm hoping to take some cute pictures this weekend. No big plans, but just playing around. It's amazing that I'm writing a blog on a HEALTHY puppy, isn't it?!?! :-D I'm a happy mommy.

I came home this morning to a VERY smelly puppy, so we had to do something about it:

And after a fluff and blowdry (and teeth brushing)....Voila!

Hi Missie, I just LOVE the pink harness!! I am the worrier that followed your story and I have tears in my eyes knowing that she is now doing so well. I am an Interior Designer and renovate old houses with my son. He bought me a pink tool belt for Christmas-when I saw the pink harness, I thought, Wow, it's girly, but still so cool. She looks adorable in it. BTW-when I look at your pic's, she has that same thick coat as our Thomas has. See in your picture of her on the towel; she has one of her legs curled under. That is a trait of this breed!! (although they are not a breed yet) They all do it and it is SO CUTE!! Of course purebred labs do it and I think Golden Retreivers do it too, not sure if poodles do this. Anyway, she is the cutest puppy. Best wishes from Debbie in Toronto and of course Thomas, my "huge" puppy.

Hi Missi - great news about Lizzie, and I love the photos! She reminds me so much of our Penny when she was that age. Re: the vomiting. Is it coming up as yellow bile? That often happens when puppies aren't eating. Their little tummies get upset and then they throw up. The vet told me to give her a little snack first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and it's worked wonders. Nothing big - just a little biscuit or training treat. Looks like Lizzie has a wonderful home!

Missi, the new photos are wonderful, and I'm so happy to hear that Lizzie is doing well! A lot of people like the Blue Buffalo food, I'm glad it's working out for Lizzie. She is just adorable! it won't be long before you are posting in "Puppy madness" about all the things she's getting into! It's been such a tough road for both of you, but it seems you have reached the light at the end of the tunnel! Yipppeeee!! Enjoy your weekend!

My big LB used to vomit his food. He is now on Hill Science ID and no more vomiting. YEah! I am glad you found a food that works for Lizzie

She sounds like she is doing wonderfully. That is great news.

It does sound like a bath is needed though. Good luck.
