Lyric is a mommy!!

Sorry to keep you all in suspense but I have had no time to write! Lyric went through a long night of pacing and panting, but at 4:30 am, things got more serious. By 6:15, she was ready to give birth and hoped right into the whelping box--she made two grunts and out popped puppy #1 --a gorgeous all black male. 15 minutes later, we had a beautiful FAT apricot female followed by another black male with two white feet. The fourth baby was a cream colored girl with some darker areas--almost a grey color--but she was half the size of the others and wasn't sucking strong enough to get food. She is a feisty determined little girl, though and kept trying. We knew we would have to help her out as soon as we had time. Within another 15 minutes (now 1 1/2 hours total) we had another cream colored pup, but larger and a male. This one has lots of greyish spots all over. So, that's the five I was expecting, but Lyric was still panting and Marci was convinced that there was one more pup in there--sure enough, 1/2 hour later, the most adorable black and white pup emerged! We really wanted a particolor like Remi, the dad, and this boy fits the bill. So, 4 boys and 2 girls--cross your fingers for the little one. I am bottle feeding her right now, so no sleep for me!  Lyric did sooo well and is a great mom.

Look at the size difference between the two females over on the right--yikes!. 6 1/2 oz. and 14 oz. There are 6 puppies in there, but the two black ones blended together!

Oh wow oh wow - what an adventure.  Amazing and darling. Boy the apricot girl looks half grown compared to her sister.  Keep us posted when you can.

Ginny..............phew"!!!!!   We did it!!  Never did get to drink a glass of wine...........when i come to check our little ones we will "indulge" then ok!!  We need to celebrate, after all, we are grandmothers!!!   I am so tickled that little parti boy looks exactly like my boy Remi.............Remi has miniature behind him and lyric has bigger dogs behind her so he should be a nice medium...............i am looking at my program very seriously to see if he will fit in nicely and if we have need for him in the future as a daddy............he is so NICE!!!!!!   But then the other boy is a beautiful cream parti.......geeosh,,   so many choices!!!   Hugs and soft kisses for our little babe.

Tell her gramma is praying for her and YOU!!!    She will make it.........I really believe she will.............she suckled today.............that is a great big hallelujiah!!!!!

What a beautiful start to the new year!  Congratulations!  I am so glad "Squirt" is feisty....this will serve her well.  I have an affinity for the partis....just love that black and white.  Morgan started out black and white, and now he is more brown and white, with bits of black coloring.  It is fun to have pictures along the way.  Good luck!  Keep us posted, especially on little "Squirt".
