I work at Vanderbilt - this is a story I received via email today about this beautiful dood doing therapy work at Vandy Medical Center. I hope I can one day do this with Peri (if she ever calms down LOL)! These doodles are the greatest :)

I have had several other breeds of dogs over the years..but these Doodles...they have an instinctive caring soul to them..they melt your heart and are so perfect for therapy. I have a friend who has had both hips replaced..a knee and back surgery..Wilson knows instinctively not to jump..but to lay his head in her lap...she loves him!! Thank you for sharing the story.

Great story! When I take my guys to the nursing home where my mom is, the resident's faces brighten up! (Visitors too) The other evening I had 5-6 people standing in the hallway asking questions about them. A young woman in a wheelchair came over to see if she could pet them. She loved it. Another woman heard us talking in the hallway and she came out to see the dogs. It turned out she was a member of DK. (My husband had told her husband about DK so she checked out DK and became a member!) I have been taking Sheba and Duke to the home since they were 12 weeks old. Several times the the a nurse or an aide would stop by my mom's room and ask if they could take them to another residents room to visit. When we arrive in my mom's area some one will holler out, "Alice (my mom) your babies are here!" Sheba and Duke aren't thearpy dogs yet but they will be someday!

Great story....I can't wait to do this. My best friend is a Hospice nurse, and there are three dogs in her program. One of them is a Doodle. She was telling me how this Doodle bonded with an older man who was dying of cancer. He visited him every day, and he just laid calmly on the bed while the man petted him. She was sharing how this brought comfort and peace to this patient during his last days. I think this type of love and service from our dogs is completely amazing.
