Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I need to blog a little....

I've said it before...I will say it again - the Food Group is such an informative group on DK - may be the best in my opinion. If we had it before 2007, wouldn't it have saved quite a few of us from a lot of grief?

My Taquito (aka Tacky) lived through those terrible food recalls, but now has kidney problems at age 6 (due to chicken jerky recalls - sick for 2 months - almost died). Too young for that. I did feed high quality food immediately after the scare, but am still learning so much from the Food Group here on DK. I hope that others will be proactive in feeding their dogs good food (whether that be commercial foods or homecooking or raw). It kills me sometimes to think that I brought on T's pain. One of my biggest goals is to have him live as long as possible AND for Peri to not encounter any of these problems related to food. Sorry, but I tend to get emotional about this topic because Taquito goes in for a kidney test March 10 and I am very very nervous!

I hope if you are not a part of the Food Group, you will consider joining! You will be doing a wonderful thing for your precious doodle!

Here's my Tacky (here's to him leading a looong chihuahua life) and Lady Peri (mini f1 goldendoodle)!

Before I even think about switching foods, I always check what is going on.One thing that is nice about the FG is how it is organized....very well.

We love the FG! Timbow is happier and looks forward to meal time now that we've switched to a better food!

The Food Group helped me get Callie on a good food. She will usually eat it AND it made her coat much glossier.

Thanks for all of the comments - it is great having the support of fellow Food Groupers and DK friends!

Guinness wants me to add that he LOVES the food group! It's his favorite thing about DK. He doesn't mind when I'm online now because he thinks I'm looking up new recipes FOR HIM. He's especially thankful that because of TFG he is no longer eating that food that made him feel yucky and have to poop all the time. So, FG "fairy godmothers" lots of Doodle Kisses and Hugs coming your way from GUINNESS.

When people ask me how I know what to cook for Murphy, I give the credit to TFG on DK. Would never had done it on my own with such confidence if it weren't for this group. Murphy is one happy healthy doodle!

No one who has been lured and courted by those who deceptively played upon our emotions to think we were doing the right thing should ever beat themselves up for what has passed. We all did the best that we could with what we had to work with, yourself included. Good does rise above evil and in enduring the past tragedies we press on to be a part of the now educated and connected consumers who are bound to not be part of history repeating itself ever again. Our gratitude to those that stand among us because of their heartache runs deep, thank you for selflessly sharing your pain ~ past, present and future as a reminder to what we are fighting to prevent.

Allyson, TFG wouldn't be what it is without you! You have helped so many others by sharing what you've learned!
It's because of what happened in 2007 that we even have a Food Group; the loss of Magic sent Lynne on a quest to find a better way, I joined the quest, and the Food Group was born. Thanks so much for your participation and support!
