Whew! We got the good word from the vet today... No knee surgery for Coco.

Two weeks ago on a Saturday it was pouring down rain and poor Coco had to go "do her business". When she came running back inside she slipped on a wet porch step and bumped her left knee on the step (of course this was the foot I had yet to trim). She came in the house limping. The next Monday she was still limping so off to the vet we went. X-Rays revealed she has a pulled ligament and needs to stay off her leg as much as possible for the next 2 weeks. I feel so sorry for her as she looks so forlorn when she can't join the rest of the pack for some rough and tumble play in the backyard. For potty breaks I carry her down and up the back steps. Since she can't do steps, I am sleeping on the family room couch so she won't be alone.

The adjustable stifle (knee) brace I ordered it for her came in 2 days. It really did help support her knee and I feel greatly helped in allowing the healing process to take place. She is now putting some weight on her back leg and the vet is pleased with her progress. We have another 2 weeks of rest and minimal walking, but she is doing sooooo much better.

Her personality is really starting to come out and she is a real sweetie. And boy is she a kisser! She especially likes toes and anyone walking around in bare feet is fair game for a good foot washing.

I thought that I would share a few updated pictures...

Coco says 'Bring that face closer so I can kiss it!"

Look mom, I can roll over...

See how pretty my coat is now that the mats are out...

Coco, you are such a beauty and I hope your knee gets better soon so you can get back to playing and having fun.

What a sweet little girl. You know, somehow our babies seem to know when they are hurt that we are helping them and they manage to say thank you, thank you, thank you, over and over. They always seem to be so good about letting you attend to their needs and when we have to soak or dress the wound. But...once they are feeling a bit better...watch out! There is no way you are going to keep a Doodle down when "she" thinks she is healed and ready to run and play. I am supposed to keep mine quiet for 7-10 days and that is a joke. One day after her second fox tail surgery she wanted us to throw her ball and run after it jumping in the air to catch it!

She looks so good, Nina. Having met her, I can say that she has the sweetest personality and gives great doggy kisses. I am so glad her knee is getting better.

Coco is a beautiful girl, I am so glad no bones were broken, I guess as long as she gets alot of love and attention she won't miss playing too much.

She is quite "fetching." Sorry that she is laid up for a bit.
