Molly & Bailee's cheap homemade sweaters..

I tried to get Moly and Bailee a snow jacket before it snowed and like usual I waited to long and the one I wanted was gone so I decided to take matters into my own hands seeings as how we got about 4 inches on Sunday night and all I could think of was those darn snowballs that would be hanging all over them as they played around in the snow, then the flood in the house that we would have as they melted off of them.  So here's what I did I went to Walmart and bought 2 longsleeve turtleneck shirts an a package of elastic ($10.00) came home made sure they would even let me put them on them then I cut about 2 inches off each sleeve made a quick hem and put the elastic in them.  Then I wanted them a little longer on the back side so I could cover all their belly so I added a piece of scrap fleece I had and sewed it to the bottom of the shirt and also put a quick hem and elastic in it..This is what we ended up with and it worked great in the snow the only thing that had snow on it was their back legs and nose.  It was so much easier then when I took it off of them I just threw the sweaters in the dryer for a few minutes and they were ready for the next time they had to go outside.

I had the same problem with Bailee's brother Gryff and I ended up using an outgrown shirt of my son's, it was a Nike undershirt with stretch so it fit great (and no sewing!).  .  Gryff had a problem with ice building up between his toes so I have him wear Pawz disposible/reusable dog boots, like little balloons that fit over his feet, they cost about $1 apiece so no tears if he loses one...

Wow, great idea!  Maybe you should make them matching snow pants too.  They'll just have to learn to let you know when they have to potty!  ; )

WOW! Those are really cute! What a great idea!  I am FAR from crafty but I might be able to do something like it with a hot glue gun :-) My specialty LOL
