Bella is doing great. It's been one week and she has learned so much. She now sit's when asked, and knows to sit to wait for her food. She has gone to the door a few times to go out, but still has had an accident or two, but that is still our faults. She is nipping less and kissing more and has learned that she can sleep in our bed with us or go lay on the floor with Murphy during the night and seems comfortable with that arrangement.
She has the sweetest little face and just gazes in your eyes. She follows Murphy around everywhere now and they have their own play language that still makes me a little nervous as she is so small compared to him, but she holds her own and lets him know if it's too rough. He is just great with her and has gone from tolerating to playing with her this week.
Our only issue has been Murphy with food. As most of you may know, I have homecooked for him since he was about 5 months old and he has always inhaled his 2 meals a day. He is also very guarded with food when another dog is around and both those issues have made me want to use this time with Bella to change that. Our breeder suggested free feeding. Still working on it, but after one very full belly yesterday, he has slowed down drastically and has left his bowl alone with food in it since this morning. It's hard seeing his belly look so full and uncomfortable, but he is not vomiting and has plenty of BM's. This is all new to me so I will keep you posted. April did say it may be hard to teach an adult dog to free feed, but I have high hopes for Murph as he is pretty bright. Here are our latest photos.
