So my hubby has been really sick the last week or so - of course refused to go to the doctor. Finally, I got him to go - it was either that or I was going to smother him with a pillow ;-)

He was having a really hard time taking a deep breath, lots of pain in the right side of his chest, coughing, wheezing, whining (did I say that?!), short of breath, more complaining. He went to the doctor and for a chest x-ray.

He comes home from the doctor and tells me he has PARVO?!! I start laughing and look at the sheet from the doctor............

In the meantime, he is on the phone calling his dad to let him know what was wrong - "Hi dad, I just wanted to let you know that it was PARVO - yeah parvo (as he emphasises the word) - I am sure that's what he said" - evidently my father in law is no medical genius either. THEN he proceeds to call his sister (it's a close family) to tell her what the diagnosis was - he tells her "Its PARVO" by now I can't supress my laughter and I am getting the hairy eyeball from him while he is trying to tell his sister all about his parvo.

In the end I stopped laughing enough to tell him its PLEURISY not PARVO! Parvo is something dogs get!! Then he says - "Are you sure?" I couldn't quit laughing after that one!

As usual a DK discussion got me thinking. So I checked it out and people can get parvovirus, a different one than dogs. So DH may have gotten it wrong, because what you describe sounds like pleurisy, but it wasn't entirely impossible.

Believe me I am still making fun of him!! I put a couple of Hunter's treats on his nightstand and told him if he was a good boy and took his medicine he could have them! LOL

This is too funny. Hope your husband is feeling better soon. This reminds me of what happened to a friend of mine a couple years ago. My friend\s husband came down with a sore throat, she had antibiotics left over from a previous illness and being a nurse instructed him as to where they were and how to take them. Two days go by and her hubby isn't getting any better. He said the pills were not working but when he burped he was getting a terrible taste of vinegar. It was then my friend clue in. This happened around the time of the cider vinegar pill era when everyone was taking them for weight loss and she had put them in an old pill container for taking to work. For two days she had been giving hubby vinegar pills. He said his throat was no better but he could move his belt in a notch.

LOL! I'm sorry your DH is sick, but his interpretation of his diagnosis is priceless! I predict that by Monday, somebody on some dog forum somewhere will be posting that they heard about this man who got Parvo!
I hope he feels better soon...especially because you won't be able to tease him about this until he's well!

That is hilarious. I thought he really did have Parvo, I was thinking "Wow, is that even possible???"

Hysterical....absolutely hysterical! Think of the fun you could have had if you played along with this. The possibilities are endless. Now that I'm finished laughing, I sure hope he feels better soon (and that you live through it). Sick DHs can be way more challenging than sick Doodles. I'm sure our male Doodles would be just as bad, except they can't talk! LOL
