I really hope I'm not "overblogging", but Guinness has been going through a really funny stage, and I feel compelled to share with fellow Doodle Nuts. Twice in the past two days Houdini has escaped from his crate while we were out. It's a soft sided crate with a zipper in the front. Both times he was tightly zipped in. Somehow he figured out how to unzip from the inside. It's freakng us out because we can't understand how he does it. The zipper "handles" are on the outside. It's crazy. So, today we planned to go to brunch and church and figured we should just let him stay free since he would escape anyway. We did, and thankfully he was a good boy and no damage. Yesterday he started using the "doggie bells" to tell us he needed to go out. It cracked us up because he figured out to ring the front door bells when he had to "pee" (we take him out on the grass for #1), and he rang the back door bells when he had to poop (we take him out to a kennel in the back for #2). Again, this was totally out of the blue. We had pretty much stopped using the bells because he didn't seem interested. Again, crazy. We just went through our XMAS card picture taking session with the hat and the antlers. He was having none of it. When I finally got the hat on him (lots of treats involved), he refused to even look at me for the picture. Normally he's a total ham, but he was making me pay for the humiliation of that hat. He tried to eat the antlers. Here he is refusing to even look at me.....

Here he is giving me his "mad face"...

Looks like I may have to use photoshop for the XMAS card.

Oh, your pics are adorable. I went to Denver to visit my vet daughter and also flew Lauren out (our deaf daughter). We had so much fun, but only cats. I missed your post about the "escape" routine. I love to hear Guiness stories. He is so smart and a hoot and 1/2. I have a long wait for mine (until Feb.). Lauren recently had an accident involving her new cochlear implant (she has 2 and has 5 cochlear operations in 17 yrs). She is a love but high maintenance and I get anxiety sometimes, like this accident which got very involved and still is. My new doctor here in Illinois recommended I NOT get my puppy bc I'm having trouble sleeping and having anxiety over this last accident!! She thinks I have enough stress in my life. Anyway, I called my hubby (who is always the stabilizer, voice of reason) and told him this and he said "that is ridiculous". If you are alseep and Sheila (we've already named her) needs to go out, I will take her!! I think this doc has to go. She is too reactive. I need people cheering me on, not scaring me. My dogs give me a joy I can't describe. They take me away from some of the harsh realities of life.

I guess the crate days are over. Guinness "unzipped himself" again during the night. He shoved his body under the bed, with his butt sticking out, and that's how he spent the night. I got up at one point to "go potty" and he scared me half to death. I didn't know he was "free" until he strolled into the bathroom. When I went back to bed that's when I saw him jam himself under the bed. Never heard from him again until morning. So much for the comfort of having him safely in the crate. It's just like when I moved the kids from the crib into the big bed. I didn't sleep soundly for weeks after that.

This is hilarious! Peri won't pose for photos either. I have to have a treat in my hand and make her look up at me. Otherwise, they are sneaky candids (like my profile pic)! Guiness is a totally cute dood!

I love the 2nd. pic. That is cute. Aren't these doodles just the smartest dogs you have ever seen. They figure out anything. He just wanted to be out and FREE. Love it.

Duncan gives the same face when he is done with our photoshoot session. I ended up using photoshop to add a red bow around his neck for my holiday card. Thank god i'm a good retoucher. You'd never know.

"Laugh a minute is so true." We are so lucky to have these dogs in our lives.
