My parents have caught the Doodle bug!

This summer, before we got our second Goldendoodle, we took a family vacation to Branson MO. We rented a condo. My parents liked the sound of the place so much they decided to get a condo as well. Unfortunately, our condo didn't allow Veruca to stay.. but theirs did. We were in the same complex, so we would come over to get Veruca and she would spend the night with them.

When our vacation was over, after hearing stories from my Mom of how wonderful our Goldendoodle is.. my Mom said she would like it if Vee came to visit them for a week. My parents live two blocks away and this summer each of my kids stayed with them individually for a week. My Mom enjoyed Veruca's company so much she decided Veruca should come stay too.

My parents lost their Mini-Schnauzer nearly a year ago. She was very old, could barely walk and her bladder had been failing her regularly for over a year. My parents knew her end was near a long time out... once she passed they felt sad, but also relieved. They didn't consider another dog... until Veruca stayed with them. I'm proud to say my girl reminded them of the joy having canine company can bring. The soft nose pushing your hand, big brown eyes following you watching for a chance to snuggle, her warm soft body nuzzling your feet at night as you sit on the couch... simple, loving companion with no strings attached.

My Mom grew up loving Poodles. She has had several poodles in her life but health issues and interbreeding causing their personalities to be unreliable scared her away from the breed as she had children. Now, I am proud to say my parents have caught Doodle fever. Last night my Mom filled out an application with DRC for a Doodle in the DFW area that seems like a perfect fit for them. I am bubbling with excitement, I truly believe that my girls add quality to my life, I can't express to non-doodle owners how much I enjoy having them around. I don't want to jinx it, but I hope it works out for them.

To know a doodle is to love a doodle, that is the truth....I am not surprized that they have been bitten by the doodle bug....Please wish them and you good luck with the new doodle, whenever he or she gets there and pictures of course, please....

Thanks ladies! Veruca appreciates all the compliments too! I'm really happy for them, I will post lots of pictures when they adopt and an update on how things are going. They applied and my Mom really has her heart set on the dog she likes... and she knows that no doodle is a "bad" choice... but you know sometimes you just see a dog and feel like thats the one. She's also not in a rush and views this as a lifelong commitment (as she should) so she really wants to have the right one.

I've already offered to dog sit. Hah.. Not that they need it, since they are retired.. but yes I am excited because thats more doodle love around here :) I see weekends of stealing off with their dog when we go to the park with ours... Oh, I guess they could come too. *grin*

Keep us posted on what happens. Of course they caught the doodle fever! A year ago, Peri was driving my mom bonkers. Today my mom is a tad obsessed.
