I came home last night from my 6 day vacation. Duncan was thrilled to see me.
Duncan had spent the first 3 days at my sister-in-law's house where he scarfed down his "cousin" Casey's wet food at every meal. (he usually eats only dry kibble which he didn't touch) so this might have been where everything began...day 4 he spent with my friend and her dog and that seemed a bit better although he wouldn't eat much of his kibble... but days 5 and 6 he got real mopey ate nothing and started to have a soft poop and finally this morning when I took him out it turned completely to watery poo. Three times so far today. I've started him on chicken and rice and at least he ate it. I'm hoping this is all just his nerves and anxiety and hopefully he'll be back to normal tomorrow. I feel so bad. He was so humiliated when I had to wipe his rear with a warm washcloth.

He'll be okay. This happened to my sister's dog last time he stayed at my parents. I have to be a little anal when I leave my dogs with them...separate food is a pain, but the alternative is runny poos :)

Probably just from so much change all at once. I'm guessing he's back to normal today. It might be good to keep him on the chicken rice another day or two though. Guinness also hates having his "butt" cleaned. Feel better Duncan!

thanks for all your responses. I've been battling between feeling so guilty that he got so distressed at my being away and how i'm going to deal with his stinky rear tonight. He fell asleep for the night and keeps passing gas. Smells like rotten lunch meat. HA. Whew!

Probably the canned food that did the damage. Hope he feels better soon.

Poor Duncan.... But being with mommy and the home cooked meal should fix him up quickly!!

Oh poor Duncan. Our Doodles do have very sensitive feelings but I'm sure he knew you were helping him. Somehow they have a way of knowing when we are taking care of them. I have a feeling that everything has caught up with him and all that wet food probably was too rich or something for him. I know that my Gracie only gets a special dry food and then the natural chicken jerkeys for treats. If we have a day out and about where people give her doggie treats we go through a period of watery poos. Just make sure he gets lots of water and take him to the vet if it doesn't clear up in a day or so. You do not want him to get dehydrated!!! Good luck!
