I have been experimenting with my point and shoot a lot lately... mostly to convince myself I don't need a fancy SLR. :-) Anyways, I have been using the different settings and decided to try out the super macro. It's AMAZING! I don't think I have ever been able to get such a sharp photo from so up close. I need to work on keeping my hands more still, or perhaps getting out the tabletop tripod. There are a few things that could be in clearer focus. But If you like to take pictures of still life objects up close, Macro works so well. I can only imagine how awesome it would would be with a nicer SLR camera...

Here is a really close up clear shot I got.

I was taking the picture on the banister and I set the camera down so I wasn't holding it. From my experience, when it is in super macro, you can't shake at all, or it will be blurry. So I suggest setting the camera down, getting a tabletop tripod... or something. My hands just aren't steady enough. Also, I push the button halfway down to focus, then take the picture.

We have a couple old point and shoot cameras and they still take great pictures. Great photo and I love the ring!

That is pretty darn good! I have a P&S too, but didn't even know what "macro" meant until I got my DSLR...so I never even tried it!

Thanks everyone, I'm sure you can tell but it is my engagement/wedding set. I wanted something unique... It's a yellow sapphire... fun to photograph. :-)

It's an Olympus FE-46. Just a basic Point and Shoot. But it's a pretty good camera.
