One Year Ago Today...

(I know, I've done 3 blog posts in the last week. But it's been an eventful week.)

One year ago today, we brought Darwin home. I was so torn between excitement that I FINALLY had my own dog, and being terrified that I had made the wrong decision. What if I wasn't ready? What if something happened to him? The first couple of weeks were tons of fun, and very stressful. I remember wondering what he would be like in a year.

Well, it's been a year, and I couldn't have wished for a better dog. He has fit into our lives wonderfully. DH and I truly can't figure out how we lived without him. He's goofy, cuddly, loving, and totally perfect. Well, not PERFECT. :-) He has his stubborn side, and he's a total PIG, but we couldn't love him more.

Graciedoodle, Darwin accepts. He has seen pictures of you and things you are gorgeous... LOL.

Camilla...you sound so much like what I went through. I am older but also 5'1'' and have grandbabies that live in Boston. We had lost our Lab almost 5 years prior to getting Gracie Doodle and I was so done with dogs. He was more my husband's and had an "edge" about him. Didn't like kids and that was going to become a problem as the grand kids were starting to be born. I also travel a bunch since I go back all the time to visit them. A dog just wasn't in the cards for me...until I met my first Doodle! And it was in Boston that I first met one! That started a year long study of them and my downfall was when my husband found a local breeder and took me to see the puppies...love at first site! I was hooked. But, we brought Gracie home and I had all the same concerns. Biggest was what would we do with her when we both traveled? No kennel for her!!! Now I never want to travel unless she can go with us. That is impossible for Boston but she goes to a great Dog Ranch when we both travel.

Gracie Doodle is so much like Darwin. She too is an F1 GD Standard. She was up to 74.5 lbs but as of yesterday she is 71.2 but a very tall girl. And YES...they are PERFECT! Okay, the other stuff doesn't count. Just try to find a dog that is more perfect than a Doodle!

Congratulations Darwin! Can Gracie Doodle be the "older woman" in your life? She is 3.

Darwin was 12 weeks old when we got him, so he was bigger than most other pups already. I believe he was... 16 pounds then? DH is 5' 8". May not be too tall by many people standards, but in my family... that is huge. I'm
5' 1"....

Congratulations on your 1 year doodle anniversary! Darwin is such a cutie...both as a puppy and a 'grown up' =) Loved seeing the flashback photos. Now, how old was Darwin when he came to you and how tall is your hubby???
