Penny the WonderDog Has Gone Over the Rainbow Bridge

Yesterday morning, Penny told us it was time for her to go.  Her mast cell cancer, which she had fought valiantly for more than a year, just plain wore her out.

We spent the day saying our final thank you's and goodbyes.  In the afternoon, a very special hospice vet came to the house, and Penny went to sleep in her favorite spot, surrounded by more love than the room could hold.  She went peacefully and you could see the relief on her face that she was no longer in pain.

While we are, of course, devastated, we are happy that she is no longer suffering.  We feel very good that we knew when the time was right without her suffering more than she had to.  And there are no words to relate the amount of joy she has given us over the last 7 years.  She was not only an amazing member of the family; she made the love between my husband Ron and myself all that stronger.

We move forward one day at a time with broken but full hearts.  Now it is time to love and care for Biscuit as she tries to find her way without her big sister.

We want to thank each and every one of you who have continued to reach out to us during this past year.  We joined DoodleKisses when it was just brand new, and have made friends for a lifetime.  Your love and concern have meant the world to us, and we look forward to sharing Biscuit's life with you the days unwind.

Penny loved you all... and so do we.

My deepest sympathy for you and your family, and of course for Biscuit.  The video is beautiful, but I must confess that I had to stop watching it at 43 seconds because the mascara is already streaming down my face.  Hugs and doodle kisses from Seamus and Stella to all of you!

Michele, I am so sorry to hear that Penny is gone, I am sitting here with tears running down my face.  I was thinking of her the other day, wondering how she was doing...I am glad that she is out of pain, and she is running free with all our other beloved pets, healthy, happy and pain free. we all have had to make this awful decision at one time or another, but we do it so that they can be free of pain, and their spirts can soar to the next level.  I truly believe that they depend on us to do what is necessary at the right time.  I know how much this hurts, we are there with you. I will light a candle for Penny tonight, to guide her way to the Bridge.  She was a very special dog, and like it has been said before, it will always hurt, but in time, you will smile when her name comes up, and all the wonderful stories and videos and pictures will bring happy memories for you all.  Hugs to you, Dh, and Biscuit, we all here on Doodlekisses knew and loved Penny....Cheryl, Olivers Mom..

I am sorry to hear this.  I was just thinking about you and wondering how things were going.  I enjoyed the tribute to Penny.  Great pictures of a great dog.

what a beautiful tribute to Penny....surely she will bless you from the Bridge, all the days of your life, and will be waiting for you when the time comes.  I have watched her grow up with my Beau, and my heart breaks for you.  What a caring and loving idea to have a hospice vet at your own home.  My deepest condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss.  The love you had for Penny (and the love she had for you) shines through.  I've always felt the definition of love was caring for someone else more than you care for yourself.  Letting her go when it was time, although very hard, shows how very much you and your husband loved Penny.  Your entire family are in my thoughts/prayers.
